A local brewery in the Yorkshire Wolds is set to celebrate the stunning landscape and rich history of the area with a special guided walk. This event, known as ‘Walking the Wolds’, will take place on Saturday, 6th June, and is a fantastic opportunity for both locals and visitors to explore the beautiful countryside while learning about its significance.

Guided Walk Details

The walk will be led by Alec Boyd, the National Trails Officer for the Yorkshire Wolds Way. Participants will embark on a scenic 6.5-mile trek starting from Hunmanby Grange Farm, which is home to the well-loved Wold Top Brewery. The event kicks off at 9.30 am and is expected to last around three hours, allowing plenty of time to take in the sights and sounds of the stunning Yorkshire landscape.

What to Expect

During the walk, attendees will have the chance to learn about the area's fascinating history and unique geology. The Yorkshire Wolds Way National Trail, which stretches for 79 miles from Hessle to Filey, runs close to the brewery and offers a perfect backdrop for this event. This trail is known for its breath-taking views, rolling hills, and charming villages, making it a popular choice for walkers and nature lovers alike.

Tickets and Refreshments

Tickets for the ‘Walking the Wolds’ event are priced at £20. This fee includes a refreshing drink and a hearty afternoon tea waiting at the end of the walk. This is a great way to relax and chat about the day’s experiences while enjoying some delicious local food. Tickets can be purchased online, ensuring a convenient way to secure a spot.

Community Connection

Events co-ordinator Sam Smith expressed excitement about hosting this popular event for the fifth consecutive year.

“Alec’s predecessor, Malcolm Hodgson, led this walk for us for many years before his retirement last year, and we’re delighted that Alec is quite literally following in Malcolm’s footsteps, and has offered to lead this popular walk for us.”

This continuity highlights the importance of community and connection to the local area, as well as the commitment to preserving its heritage.
