Stayed here for 4 nights. On booking we were told about there autumn 2 night deal so we booked 2 consecutive deal nights covering the 4 nights that we wanted. A wonderful start to the long weekend break. And the hotel gave us the two night first meal discount on both the first night and the 3rd night as that was the start of the second deal The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings and away from busy traffic. The staff were fantastic, friendly, attentive and very helpful nothing was to much for them to make our stay comfortable. The food was outstanding and reasonably priced ( just as much as you would pay elsewhere) the portions were generous and lots to choose from the menu. A wonderful treat for any food lovers The buffet breakfast was so good to start the day All the produce was local and fresh which is a complete bonus for us. The hotel was tastefully decorated for Christmas with beautiful trees. The room we were given was spacious and clean. The bathroom was also spacious and clean and helped with space as my wife has mobility issues All the staff were attentive and very helpful but were not pushy or in your face.

Stayed as part of a 2 night deal offered by the hotel. Spacious rooms with plenty of storage and a decent bathroom with shower. Restaurant food good quality but not cheap. Portions excellent and highly recommend the buffet breakfast for quality of food. The staff in the restaurant are great, nothing too much trouble for them. Gluten free options are available on request. Bird of Prey centre definitely worth a visit plus you get vouchers for free admission as part of the 2 night deal. Hotel not far from York which is always worth visiting. Overall we would quite happily stay again

We were visiting the area including York so booked just outside - also as saved a little money. The room was fine although very much needed a spruce up. The net curtain in the window only just fitted and had been cut down the sides unevenly with scissors. They didn't have any walk in showers but, in spite of some mobility issues, I decided it would be fine. I thought I could use grab rail when showering for any extra support or safety - just for confidence. There wasn't one at all! Also it wasn't until I was up in the room I noted younhad to request a non slip mat. I was far too tired and in considerable pain with stiffness to go back down and ask. I managed a very quick rinse off shower with not much soap (trying to avoid slippiness) but needed to use the unit next to shower to ensure some stability in case I slipped. I also took my phone in just in case. As I stepped out of the shower the floor sank down under the lino and their was a noticeable rip - I would say this was from everyone getting out this end (the tap end which is usual) and maybe also water had gone over at sometime. I had to avoid this area for my two night stay. Also the toilet had a dark brown stain allndown the back of the pan and this looked awful and made it feel dirty. On a positive note, it was clean and had plenty of pillows. The breakfast was good, hot food was hot, servers efficient and the dining room very nice, presented well and clean.

Not impressed by pricing or attitude Had dinner at the hotel restaurant Friday night. Staff were friendly and the setting was nice, but the pricing and customer service left a bad taste. Due to gas issues, the menu was limited. Our 2.5-year-old was unwell, so we asked for plain pasta with butter and a small garlic bread. What we got was exactly that — and were charged the full £8 for the kids’ pasta dish. No sauce, no extras, just carbs and disappointment. Raised the issue with staff at dinner and again at checkout. Both times, we were met with indifference. No apology, no flexibility, just “that’s the price.” I later realised that I had been speaking to the manager Danny on both occasions who was condescending and was very short with us at breakfast the next morning avoiding eye contact when speaking to us. We’re not unreasonable — we’d happily pay a fair price for what we got. But £8 for buttered pasta? Come on. Poor customer service and a lack of basic empathy.
