I stayed at the Ashfield Hotel in Dublin for two nights in September. The hotel is honestly quite old, and the rooms are small and basic. However, it was clean and the beds were very comfortable — it had everything essential. Far from luxury, but functional and sufficient for a short stay. The real highlight is the location: perfect, right in Temple Bar and close to all the main attractions in the city center.
I arrived here in desperation in regards to needing a hotel room for the night hoping it’d at least be an acceptable experience. for a starter my reception was a ring door bell and a old fashion telephone sat beside it, upon finally emailing them pictures of my ID I got into a room that looked absolutely nothing compared to the pictures, the signal was dreadful so I could barely even accept a phone call and there was a horrible smell entering the room from some where. There was milk left on the side in the warm room so it’d be off and the door locks felt as flimsy as an A4 piece of paper. We ended up leaving within 15 minutes of being in the room and I asked for a refund and they just hung up on me. Poor customer service, poor rooms would’ve rather have slept in the back seat of my car
As a short-term stay the hotel sufficed. The room was clean, spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The shower was simple to use and refreshing. No breakfast included, but you have a smallnkitchen which includes a microwave and fridge. The only complaint I have is that the batteries in the TV remote needed replacing. The hotel has some very nice touched, including art decor pieces.
Worst place I've ever not stayed!! Had call two days before stay offering "free upgrade". On arrival nobody at reception and no information on how to check in. Finally got through to somebody on phone and found safe with room key in. Room was absolutely disgusting, old tatty furniture, filthy dirty (I wrote my complaint in the dust!) light fittings dangerously exposing wires, main light switch also turned on fan (in February!) Old rug was a huge trip hazard. And then we ventured into the bathroom, not as pictured and certainly not an upgrade!! Sink coming loose from wall, tap also loose and providing cloudy dirty water. We tried the buttons on the (dirty) spa bath and it didn't work. But worst of all was the disgusting smell (sewage) There was no way we could stay in the room so we promptly left. Obviously nobody on reception to complain to and staff on phone not interested at all and just cut me off mid sentence!
The room is spacious with a nice flat screen TV. There was no fan but the room was cool enough. There was left over can and biscuits wrap behind the bed and lamp table. Need a bit of cleaning as there was cobweb and spider. Above all the positive side we were called just to know if we were still coming as it was getting to late and we were eventually welcomed by the manager who gave us the room keys and warmth welcome. The location is perfect not far from the city center.
