St James Church Sutton is a grade one listed building. The steps in front of the west door are perfect for the group shots for wedding photos. A chapel has existed on this site since at least 1160. The present church was extensively rebuilt between 1347 and 1349, when it was consecrated to St James. The chancel is the only substantial stone building in the area, due to the fact there are no quarries nearby, all of the buildings in the area were made of locally produced bricks. The stone for the church was brought up the river hull by boat to stoneferry. The church is a beautiful building with some very nice stained glass windows. This church has been important to my family my mother was confirmed here, my parents married here. I was christened here, married here my children were christened here.

I got married here, christened my children here and my friend lives next door. This church is everything to anyone with a need. The vicars etc are just the loveliest people and they talk you through your service step by step. The services are professional and pocket friendly. There is no parking on the church site but there is parking on the roads surrounding the church and a nice shop directly opposite for all those who forget the batteries in there cameras. All said I have found this church to be faultless and hope anyone visiting has the same wonderful experiences that I have had. I rate this church a 10/10 and highly recommend it to anyone. :)

Beautiful church. Lucky enough to come across the ladies doing the flowers so we got to look inside.
