Barleys - Vegan Cafe & Coffee Shop

We have been big fans of Barleys for years and are so pleased they have moved to a larger venue. We recently hosted our engagement party there, with Ella catering for 55 of our family and friends. None of our guests are vegan, yet everyone couldn’t stop talking about how amazing the food was - a particular highlight being the spicy tofu skewers and the blinis! Ella made the evening completely stress free, taking time to explain the food to guests, making sure everyone was well catered for, and creating a perfect atmosphere from start to finish. We’re so grateful to have celebrated such a special occasion at Barleys and couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

Didn't bring any lunch today, and been wanting to try out this vegan deli for a long time. Today was great weather for a walk and I went to get some to take away. The premises were very clean and atmosphere very relaxing. The first impression was great! Ordered a selection of 4 different sandwiches for myself and few colleagues, we all loved it and I was very pleasantly surprised vegan options can taste so good. Normally I don't eat vegan very often, but I might do more now. I will return to try more of what's on the menu and Sunday lunch sounds good which from what I understood will start from October 2025. I heard there are some specialty things that come on the menu, would love to try those one day too!

I recently had a Sunday roast with a friend, a coffee with my daughter another day and we had the faux turkey and pigs in blankets from Barleys for our Christmas dinner. Everything was wonderful! We love the new venue for the cafe/deli. It’s a good size and the decor and atmosphere are lovely. We love supporting this local, independent 100% vegan business. It’s such a great place!

Absolutely incredible food! We've been long time fans of Barley's when it was a deli at the top of newland - best vegan sandwiches and wraps I've ever had. Healthy and delicious! Since then they have moved down the street on Newland Avenue to a larger venue, which they have completely made their own! I'm leaving this review a couple of hours after we left the small plates evening service - because it was THAT good. Honestly, the best vegan food I've eaten - every plate was delicious and made us do a little dance with every bite. We tried everything on the menu and was not dissapointed, paired with a jug of sangria which was bloody lovely. Will definitely be returning soon to try and re-try everything on the menu. Cannot reccomend more, service was friendly, inviting and menu questions answered with a smile!

Had breakfast here this morning and it was amazing - the selection was incredible and as a vegan there were a few things I hadn't seen on a menu before. Made it very difficult to choose! The breakfast burrito was so tasty. The little deli selection was great too and we picked up some cheeses to try. Staff were super friendly as well which is amazing, and the atmosphere was lovely. Will be back the next time I am in Hull 😁
