I wouldn’t even want to give them one star, but unfortunately there’s no other option. They are such disrespectful shop owners, they treat everyone as if they have stolen something. Every time I enter that shop, I feel like I am under suspicion, all the staff keep staring at me and I cannot shop comfortably. I don’t even want to talk about the prices. Another thing I can’t skip is that whenever I go to the checkout, they speak to me in a foreign language. Excuse me? This is England. Do you think you are still in your own country? Even though I am a foreigner living in England, I tell my sibling to be quiet and more respectful because this is not our country. Who do you think you are to speak your own language with all your customers? Honestly, if I had the chance to shut down a shop, this would be the first one.
I had a very unpleasant and offensive experience at this shop. I visited with a friend to look for something we needed, but we couldn’t find it and decided to leave. As we were about to walk out, the shop owner stopped us and accused us of stealing, demanding to check our bag. Of course, he found nothing. He then claimed that we were supposed to leave our bag by the door so he could “make sure we wouldn’t steal,” saying it’s a rule for everyone. However, in the store, everyone else had their bags with them, and he didn’t check anyone else’s bag—only ours. This made the incident feel targeted and discriminatory. I find this behavior extremely unprofessional, offensive, and humiliating for customers who have done nothing wrong. This used to be one of my favorite shops because the products are good, but after this incident, I cannot support a place where the staff—especially the owner—treat people this way.
Always boxes on the floor making it hard for people to walk past one another so have to move like a turtle or wait for someone to finish picking products so you can pass or get them yourself. Food safety is also questionable, bread just sitting there in the open for flies to sit on, the shop is already warm enough but there is veg also lying around everywhere. Selling rotten bananas that are lukewarm. Yum. Staff not the friendliest either
