Suspiciously high rating and low amount of reviews for this awful company and shop. Have they changed the address slightly and deleted the old comments as I am very sure there were loads more. This shop is like a standard WH Smith dirty messy and cluttered. Staff treated badly by the company or by jobsworth store supervisors or managers etc. Also baffling is people STILL shop there when you can go anywhere else and get better customer service, price and product.

Long established as stationary retailer, the choice of products is extensive here. This store is well laid out making finding your item fairly straight forward. There is also a Post Office branch in store. Only downside? Quality of products good but you do end up paying what seems higher prices...

A fabulous store with a great selection.. Your go to place for magazines, so why only three stars? The staff have to be some of the rudest I have ever met. If you are browsing as the store just opens you can hear them openly moaning about how they should open later or complaining about other employees who've been in on other days. Ask them a question and when that person has walked away you can hear them complaining. Some might say it happens in the work place or it's just banter but the level here is unacceptable. I heard a member of staff say to her manager "I don't need this today, I'll just walk and don't think I'm joking" to which her colleague said she will you know. The manager joked and laughed it off (this is on the shop floor).. At first break I would have asked her in to my office and say you never speak like that in front of the public. When I walked in the other day the same people were working, one said aren't you going to switch the Xmas tree on to which her reply was I don't care if it burns down. Now I'm sure she doesn't mean this but you can't have a workforce like this. Be thankful you have a job that's in the warm. I would not award this shop three stars if it wasn't for the otherwise great selection of magazines. Other things in store can be a little overpriced but I'd hate to see w h smith leave the high street, especially after such a long heritage.. Please sort your staffing out tho.. And I genuinely mean that, otherwise myself and others will shop elsewhere..

Okay for magazines, books and writing and drawing materials. They used to sell music and DVD's, but now that has all gone. It also has the Post Office at one end too. Still good, but not as good as yesteryear. The outer entrance and window display looks scruffy and could do with a refurb.

HULL STORE - Refused refund for vouchers bought for my dad who has Alzheimer’s- which has now made him confused and scared!!! Due to vouchers being faulty HULL STORE , BOUGHT VOUCHERS FOR DAD WHO HAS ALZHEIMERS WHICH HAS MADE HIM CONFUSED AND WORRIED DUE TO THEM BEING FAULTY- Bought x4 gift vouchers from here for my father who has Alzheimer’s. Tried to use them for the message to say “Gift vouchers not valid”. Went into store for a full refund as had to buy further vouchers online as they were for The Ashes that day. A slobby assistant chewing gum couldn’t be bothered to help and referred me to Now tv. Spoke to Now tv who advised the goods were faulty they could add the £40 spent to the account but not refund. As we had already paid for vouchers again as not to miss The Ashes this would be pointless. I spoke to trading standards who advised any goods bought which are not fit for purpose are legally entitled to a refund. After emailing head office EIGHT TIMES I decided to call. The person I spoke to refused to authorised a refund even though she admitted she didn’t know what consumer rights I had legally and said she only knew WHSmiths policy! After advising her she needs to brush up on the law , that this had confused and made my already ill dad poorly due to the fact we had to buy these again ,and also that I was recording the conversation she terminated the call. I have been trying to get a full refund with a valid receipt for items I only bought three days ago which were faulty for 10 hours. They are ignoring all emails and calls. YOU ARE NOT ABOVE THE LAW. Enjoy your publicity, this is for all the people who have tried to get refunds but given up! Unfortunately I won’t!
