Inspiration • August 4th, 2025
|Get your calendars out, because Calderdale Pride is just around the corner, and it's shaping up to be an absolutely brilliant day. On Saturday 16th August 2025, the massive and historic site of Dean Clough in Halifax will be transformed into a rainbow-coloured hub of music, entertainment, and community spirit. It's a completely free event that pulls in over 25,000 people, so it's a proper party. Whether a person is a long-time Pride-goer or thinking of coming for the first time with family, there's something for everyone to enjoy. The entire event is a celebration of equality and diversity for LGBTQ+ people, bringing everyone together to make the community stronger and kinder.

A massive free party for everyone
Imagine ten solid hours of live music and fun, all for free. That's what's on offer. The whole vibe is safe, inclusive, and super family-friendly. This year's theme is The Wizard of Oz, with the tagline 'there's no place like home', which feels just right. Expect to see a fantastic splash of colour everywhere, from amazing outfits to the vibrant background of the stalls. Speaking of stalls, there will be more than 20 of them, run by charities, community groups, and independent sellers. And, of course, there will be plenty of food and drink to keep everyone going. The organisers have really thought about the style of the event, ensuring every section feels welcoming. It feels like they have turned a new page in the event's history book. The styling for the whole area is set to be spectacular. This is an event for the whole family, regardless of its size or makeup.
Who's on the main stage?
The line-up this year is absolutely packed with talent, from top tribute acts to brilliant local performers. It's a full-on day of entertainment where the main body of acts promises a brilliant show. The header news is that top DJ Pete Monsoon is headlining, but the whole line is incredible. It's so long that it barely fits on one page of text! Here's a look at who will be taking to the stage at Dean Clough:
- Pete Monsoon: The headline act! A Halifax DJ who has played all over the world and released remixes for huge names like Ministry of Sound and Clubland.
- Donna Marie: An internationally acclaimed tribute to the one and only Lady Gaga. Expect some killer vocals and iconic looks.
- Lauren G: One of the UK's best Taylor Swift tributes. She's even been on ITV's X Factor, so she knows how to put on a show.
- Forever Freddie: Get ready to sing your heart out to Queen's biggest hits with this tribute to Freddie Mercury, performed by top showman Joe Tilly.
- Marigold Addams: Capturing the spirit of the "Queen of Cruise," Jane McDonald, this drag artiste and professional singer is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
- The Queens of Halifax: A trio of local queens - Alianna, Summer Hayze, and Lana - who are known for their fabulous performances across Calderdale.
- Todd Wilson: A singer-songwriter born and bred in Halifax who has been performing for most of his life, including at past Calderdale Prides.
- The Trilogies: This 3-piece vocal harmony group is known for pitch-perfect harmonies and slick dance moves.
- Channy: A UK pop artist who has supported some massive names, including Jess Glynne, Olly Murs, and Sister Sledge.
- Shirley Valentine: A larger-than-life performer from the trans community and the winner of the Mamas Drag Battle 2024 in Leeds.
- LegzAnya: A Yorkshire-based drag artist and DJ who is a regular performer in Halifax.
- Orange Box Choir: A community choir for young people aged 13 to 25 based at the Orange Box Community Centre in Halifax.
- Bea Badillia: A 21-year-old independent Filipino singer-songwriter from Halifax whose first single got airplay on BBC Introducing. The height of her career is surely yet to come.
More than just a music festival
The event takes place at Dean Clough, which is an amazing venue in its own right. It's not just some random field; it's a collection of massive old mill buildings with a really cool history. They used to be the biggest carpet factory in the world! Now, it's a bustling place with around 150 businesses, offices, shops, cafes, and even a theatre. The whole 22-acre site, with its unique border, provides a fantastic setting for the celebration. There is no margin for boredom, as every section of Dean Clough offers something different. Beyond the main stage, Dean Clough will also be running a children's art and discovery trail, and many of the on-site cafes, restaurants, and shops will be open for business. The organisers set the styling of the event to perfectly complement the historic industrial architecture, creating a unique atmosphere you won't find anywhere else. The brickwork itself offers a stunning background to the modern, colourful Pride festivities.
The practical bits you need to know
Thinking of heading down? Here's some handy information to help plan the day. There's not much time left, so it's good to be prepared.
- Parking: There's free parking at Dean Clough every weekend. The West Entrance car park is the recommended spot, and it even has EV charging points available.
- Getting There: For those arriving by train, a shuttle bus will be running from Halifax train station. There's also a Crossley Cars taxi rank right on site.
- Staying Over: If one day isn't enough, there's a Travelodge on-site, making it easy to turn the event into a weekend trip.
As a final footer note, the day is all about celebrating love, equality, and community in the heart of Halifax. It's a wonderful, vibrant, and important event for Calderdale, so grab your friends and family and get ready for a brilliant day out.
