Welcome to Yorkshire

•Today’s #Walkshire Walk of The Day takes you on the Sustrans’ Nidderdale Greenway from the spa town of Harrogate to the village of Ripley along a beautiful 4 mile stretch of the countryside. This converted railway line will be a gentle cycle or an even gentler walk.
As the route is on the National Cycle Network it could be an excellent opportunity to dig out your bicycle and nip for a 21-minute cycle or you can find your boots for a peaceful hour and a half walk.

The main attraction of this route is the crossing of the seven-arch Nidd Gorge Viaduct where you will be sure to want to stop peddling and enjoy the view. This historic, Grade II-listed Viaduct dates back to the 17th century.
At the moment, the surrounding forestry will be an orange and brown hue as we approach winter, though at different times of the year there are some stunning sights, including bluebells in the spring, and meadows of wildflowers in the summer.
In winter, the route may be sparse of foliage, but the views of the River Nidd and the surrounding woodlands from the Viaduct are incredible all year round.
