The Manor House

I had a truly wonderful stay at this lovely B&B. The hosts were a beautiful and welcoming couple who kindly introduced themselves and even carried my suitcase upstairs for me. The room was spotless, well-kept, and came with a private bathroom. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the whole place is located in a peaceful area — just a five-minute walk from my daughter’s home, which was a real blessing. It’s also conveniently close to the local pub, where I enjoyed delicious food and some friendly banter with the owner, making the experience even more memorable. In a moment of distraction while looking after my crying grandson, I accidentally left my suitcase at the bus stop outside Manor Farm. I only realised once I arrived in York. I called the owner, and to my absolute gratitude, he didn’t hesitate to help — driving all the way (at least 30 minutes) to bring me my suitcase. That kind of kindness and generosity is incredibly rare. Thank you again for providing such a quiet, relaxing, and beautiful place to stay. I’m truly grateful for your hospitality and help.

Stayed in the 2 bed apartment for the bank holiday weekend. Friendly host, perfect size apartment, good night's sleep, and a wonderful shower in the morning. All the self catering facilities you need. Peaceful location with a few pubs in walking distance.

Got another night here so far loving it. Very friendly. Staying in a one bedroomed self contained cottage. All you need to bring are your own personal belongings. The owners Janet and Kevin are so friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back.

A truly lovely place to stay! We enjoyed a wonderful 2 nights in the Luxury room, exactly the type of room I wanted when staying in York, and at a reasonable price. The amenities were great, thoughtful touches like a guest station on the landing with a fridge holding milk for tea and bottled water, as well as shelves full of extra towels and toilet roll. The breakfast room was unique and quite the most stunning one I've seen in a b&b! We will be looking to stay here whenever we're in the area! Located about 25 minutes' drive outside the city with pretty regular buses and a few local pubs. It's convenient and quiet. We highly recommend The Mended Drum for dinner. It's about 20 minutes west and worth it! Book Ahead!

Booked a studio last minute , hosts were extremely helpful with booking and also during our 2 night stay . Provided us with lots of local info which was very useful . Studio was exactly what we were looking for , very clean with everything you needed for self catering . The gardens were beautiful with plentiful seating @ tables to enjoy the lovely weather . Location of property is easy to find in a peaceful , quaint village setting but still close enough to travel further afield . Excellent base for reaching a lot of places but with peace and quiet when you need it .
