The team from Long Preston May Day celebrations in North Yorkshire sent this report from the traditional day of fun:

Long Preston May Day celebrations.

School children were led to the Maypole Green by Settle and Giggleswick Brass Band where a new May Day King and Queen were crowned, followed by traditional dancing around the Maypole. Celebrations continued on the playing fields with many attractions and a handicrafts competition and further entertainment by the brass band. Kind weather and some excellent refreshments attracted a large crowd who thoroughly enjoyed the occasion with a wonderful backdrop…..The Yorkshire Dales!
