SPAR - Maltby

Excellent staff and a good variety of food, drinks and anything else you may need. I use this shop to drop off Evri parcels and even when I have loads of stuff to send, they're nothing but polite and helpful 😁

The products are at a good price. They have a kitchen which serves hot food, I'm currently working in the area and I just love the steak and cheese bars. They do the usual hot sandwiches as well which are really good.

Had an extremely embarrassing and 100% racially motivated experience which I have taken up with a solicitor, I had been having a terrible headache so stopped of at this Spar, the moment I walked in the staff were extremely hostile and unpleasant, nonetheless I picked up a bottle of water and a pack of Nurofen, after paying I went in my car and saw that in my glove compartment I already had a pack usually I would have just kept it but I didn’t want to have excessive packs of tablets if I didn’t need it, and considering I was only outside of the shop I thought let me go back in and return this bare in mind I came back in less than 2 minutes of purchasing this, I’m sure cctv will prove this once my case is escalated, when I went in I told the lady in a nice way I already had it in my car so I no longer needed, it if she had just said that there policy did not allow them so accept medication returns I would have said fine as it’s understandable, but instead she thought it was okay to firstly accuse me of removing the seal so I picked up another pack and showed her that non of the packs have seals, she was then in process of returning it when another lady shouted from across the bakery we don’t accept medication returns adding that she didn’t know what I had Done to the tablets, in front of customers which I found so embarrassing and degrading, as that’s such a huge accusation to make at which point I checked the Spar return and it said nothing about this. They were extremely rude and made false accusations that I had taken a non existent seal of and denied me of my basic consumer rights, it’s not the fact they didn’t accept the return, it’s the fact they thought it was okay to make those sorts of allegations in front of other people I feel traumatised by the experience and have contacted my solicitor and also raised a formal complaint with spar. This is far from over and will update my comments in due time. I have recently purchased a house in Maltby and have been to different shops and bakeries and everyone has been so nice but this by far is the worst customer experience I have had. This is my first ever time leaving a bad review I understand that people who work in these types of roles may be stressed so never complain but I literally felt bullied in this moment so have to do something so no one else has to experience this. Moral of the story if you are a person of colour don’t bother going to this spar.

Really good since king family took over. Bakery is always good and fresh and the staff are helpful and polite too. Very reliable for the courier services too.
