For A Grandmother, Grandfather & Grandson; a Trip to Satburn is a Blast. We park the Car at Bishop Auckland Station & take the Train; as the Journey's Fast. No platform Changes or Delays with Comfortable Seats & Clean 'Loo' Facilities! A Magical Trip through Fields & Estates that were Flooded on Days like these. OK : It was Raining, well Pouring Down; as we walked from Train to Beach Tram. Regrettably : The Facility was closed Mid Week, so we walked back for a Sandwich of Cheese 'n Ham. The View never changes from Victorian Times & Afore. Shops were Open; the Trip ALWAYS A Delights : We will return OFTEN to that Sandy Shore.

A lovely seaside town with paid parking. The promenade is littered with cafes, ice cream parlours, souvenir shops as well as shops selling fishing paraphenalia and shops selling and renting surf boards and wet suits. The waves are gentle but still good enuf for a bit of surfing. There are many colorful huts for rental for day use only @£40/day. Personal electrical appliances such as kettle, stove etc are not allowed but may be rented from d operator. There is a funicular train service from the promenade to the town but this service is temprarily halted for repairs. There is also an amusement arcade with game machines. Activities tt can be conducted in summer include picknicking, BBQ, surfing, swimming, sunbathing, sandplay (for kids), gaming, strolling, jogging, fishing...

Saltburn has unspoilt Victorian charm, with one of the last remaining vehicular railways. Cafes and gift shops are all very tasteful ,it Can get quite busy when the weather is good, there's lots of parking on the marine parade, and 2 carparks you have to pay for down near the beach, catnab is long stay. There's a small amusement arcade and surf hire near the beach too The pier is fantastic. Only negatives - can feel like a sleepy town, no night life and cafes close early. We've lived in saltburn for 2 years and we love it 💗
