Hi, we live locally and were looking for a Lunchtime venue, as a central point from Leyburn. Itβs a tricky walk as you have to use a narrow bridge and busy road, but we took visible clothes and lights for the return trip (recommended!) Itβs a 5/6m walk there and back and except 500m, there are lovely off road country paths available. On a visit a few days earlier, when we enquired about spaces for New Years Day, lunch with friends, they were already heavily booked but the lovely staff and land lady managed to find us a space. We had a great walk and were certainly ready for lunch. Itβs a super real country pub with fires, very good beer, locals, characters and βin comersβ all rubbing shoulders. Quick note (as clearly stated at the top of the menu) order from the bar! The choice was amazing, everything from Pies to Tapas and Fish to Roasts. We ordered and a few minutes later very scrummy food arrived in very generous quantities. I have to say, the price represented amazing value, I hope they are not diddling themselves. The staff and management all coped extremely well with groups, large and small, huge families, children and dogs. I know pubs are struggling but The Richard lll in Middleham is an outstanding pub doing it all right. I hope they will continue and look forwards to seeing them again soon.
Four of us visited Richard 111 for lunch only today. We certainly weren't disappointed. We all selected the special steak and ale pie with Stilton (made by the chef in house). Wow! We all agreed that this was one of the best pies we'd had (and we sample a lot!). James and his wife were extremely welcoming, friendly and the service was excellent. A great choice of well-kept beers. Highly recommended. Thank you - we will definitely return.
We went in for a family meal last night to celebrate my mums birthday. It's proper pub food, well cooked and such a reasonable price. The kids menu was great too. Nice and warm and cozy. The welcome was wonderful, thank you to both and we wish you the very best for you and your continued success at the pub.
Booked here last minute yesterday between visits to the Forbidden Corner and Wensleydale Creamery. All the staff were wonderful and exceptionally helpful throughout the night. We both had the steak and Stilton pie for dinner and it was delightful. Rich and meaty and simply divine - worth a trip just for the meal. Big thankyou to the Richard III Hotel for looking after two lost New Zealanders!
We had a first class Sunday dinner here today. The quality of the food, tasty and very well presented together with excellent service made it a really great dining experience. There was a woodburner near where we were eating which gave off plenty of heat and a homely feel....which on a miserable day like to day was just what we were looking for.
