Welcome to Yorkshire
Published on September 15th, 2025
•Something big is coming to Castleford. And not just big, but 30-feet-tall, jungle-roaring big. The famous Big Kid Circus is making a spectacular return to Xscape Yorkshire, and this time, it's bringing a king with it. The brand-new show, 'Kingdom of Kong', is part of the circus's 20th-anniversary tour, promising a whole new level of family-friendly entertainment.
This isn't just another day out; it's a full-blown circus extravaganza designed to leave everyone speechless, from the youngest fans to the grown-ups who are just big kids at heart. For five days only, from Wednesday 24th to Sunday 28th September, the big top will be home to a jungle adventure filled with breathtaking performances and a giant ape.

Welcome to the jungle
So, what's the story with 'Kingdom of Kong'? Imagine stepping into a completely different world, a jungle where the star of the show is a massive King Kong figure towering over the ring. This incredible 30-foot creation isn't just for show; it's the centrepiece of a story told through amazing circus artistry. The entire production whisks the audience away on an adventure, blending theatrics with the classic thrills people love about the circus. The theme creates an incredible atmosphere, making every act part of a bigger, more exciting narrative.
This is the anniversary show that celebrates two decades of Big Kid Circus being on the road. A member of the management team for Big Kid Circus, Julia Kirilova, explained just how special this event is. "The 2025 Big Kid Circus anniversary production is more than just another circus show; it's an unmissable spectacle extravaganza. A true celebration of global artists and performances from all corners of the world ready to entertain all audiences and leave you in awe as the circus takes on its 20th year on the road and brings it to Xscape in Castleford." It sounds like this is the circus performance of the year.
More than just clowns and candyfloss
Of course, it wouldn't be a circus without some jaw-dropping acts. The Kingdom of Kong show features a completely new lineup of international artists, each bringing something unique to the ring. Spectators can expect to be on the edge of their seats watching thrilling acrobatics, with performers flying through the air. The talented acrobats and a graceful aerialist will deliver routines that seem to defy gravity. But what's a circus without a good laugh?
The clowns are on hand to deliver some brilliant comedy, making sure there are giggles between the gasps. And then there's something properly groundbreaking. The show features Europe's first-ever all-female Globe of Death riders. For anyone who hasn't seen this, it's a giant metal ball, and inside, motorbike riders zoom around at high speeds, crossing paths in a heart-stopping display of skill and bravery. Seeing this team of fearless women take on the globe is a huge highlight. The entire collection of performances from these international artists makes for an unforgettable event. This level of circus artistry is what makes Big Kid Circus, run by Big Kid Entertainment Limited, a must-see.
A perfect match for Xscape Yorkshire
Having the Big Kid Circus set up its tent at Xscape Yorkshire just feels right. The venue is already known as a hub for fun and excitement, so adding a world-class circus into the mix is a brilliant move. It creates a complete, action-packed day out for the whole family. People can go skiing, grab a bite to eat, and then head over to the big top for an evening of incredible entertainment. It's the kind of experience that creates proper memories. The Centre Director at Xscape Yorkshire, Jason Warren, is clearly thrilled about the partnership. He said,
"We're excited to welcome back Big Kid Circus as they continue their tour of their spectacular 20th anniversary show here at Xscape Yorkshire. Big Kid Circus always deliver incredible performances, jaw-dropping stunts, and plenty of family-friendly fun - perfectly reflecting what Xscape is all about.
