Picture this: it's a Thursday night, you've just finished a long day, and all you want is some cracking food and good vibes. But where to go in Leeds? Well, Trinity Leeds has just answered that question with its brand-new event, the Trinity Kitchen Sessions. Kicking off with a massive homecoming gig from a local hero, this is set to be the go-to spot for food and music lovers all through August.

Trinity Kitchen

So, what's the big deal with trinity kitchen sessions?

Basically, it's a brilliant idea. Every Thursday evening in August, from 6pm to 8pm, the Trinity Kitchen food court is transforming into a stage for some of the best up-and-coming musical talent. And the best bit? It's completely free. No tickets, no booking, just turn up, grab some food, and enjoy the show. It's all about supporting standout busking talent and giving emerging artists a platform to shine. This is a chance for diners to enjoy a live performance while they eat, turning a regular meal out into a proper event. The whole thing is run by Landsec, the company that operates Trinity Leeds.

They are known for creating a huge portfolio of popular public spaces, and this is another great example. Instead of just a place to shop, they've created a community hub. The idea is to showcase the incredible talent from around the region and give everyone a reason to get together and celebrate live music.

Kicking things off with a Yorkshire hero

The launch night was something special. Yorkshire's very own singer-songwriter ADMT, whose real name is Adam Taylor, returned to his roots to put on a high-energy performance. Before he was selling out venues, ADMT was a busker, so playing to a packed crowd at Trinity Kitchen was a proper homecoming moment for him.

Fans from all over came to see his performance, which happened to coincide with the announcement of his second UK and European tour. It just goes to show how far raw talent can take you. His appearance set the bar high for the rest of the Trinity Kitchen Sessions. The energy was amazing, and it perfectly captured the spirit of the event: authentic, exciting, and rooted in the local music scene. It's not every day you get to see an artist on the verge of a major European tour playing a free gig in a food court.

Who's on the lineup this august?

The organisers have lined up a fantastic mix of artists for the rest of the month. Each one brings something different to the table, but they all have one thing in common: they're seriously talented. Here's who you can catch:

  • 14th August - Liv Harland: If you've been on social media at all, you might have already seen Yorkshire's Liv Harland. With over 4 million followers, she became a viral sensation by live-streaming her street performances. Her soulful voice and heartfelt style are captivating, and she's recently released her debut track, "FIFTY50." This is a chance to see a viral star's live performance up close.
  • 21st August - Leona N¸rskov J¸rgensen: Hailing from Sheffield, Leona mixes soul, R&B, and pop to create her own unique sound. She's known for bringing raw emotion and incredible energy to every performance. She has even worked with massive names like Rudimental and Linkin Park, so you know she's the real deal.
  • 28th August - Brandon Fletcher: A well-known face on the Leeds street performance scene, Brandon Fletcher is another local artist making waves. He recently released his debut EP, 'I Think You Made Me Insane', and has supported Tom Odell on tour. He's even got nods from superstars like Lewis Capaldi. His performance is one you won't want to miss.

Don't just come for the music, stay for the food

Of course, it's called Trinity Kitchen Sessions for a reason. The live music is perfectly paired with an ever-changing lineup of street food vendors. As the music fills the air, diners can get stuck into some amazing food. The latest rotation includes three brand-new vendors: Masri, offering incredible Egyptian street food; Dirty Bags, with their loaded fries; and I Love Brioche for those with a sweet tooth. And if you're after some familiar favourites, they're back too. Fan-favourite restaurants Stuzzi Leeds and the incredible Bao Machine are also on site, serving up their delicious dishes. So you can grab a fluffy bun from Bao Machine or some tasty treats from Dirty Bags and settle in for an evening of entertainment. It's the perfect combo of good food and great live music.

The brains behind the beat

Theo Jefferson-Brown, the F&B Retail Manager at Trinity Leeds, is clearly thrilled with how things have started. He said: "Our launch night with ADMT was a huge success, and it was fantastic to see so many people come together to support live music and celebrate a Yorkshire artist." "Trinity Kitchen Sessions is all about supporting the local busking community and showcasing the incredible talent within our region.

We've got some great artists lined up on Thursday nights during the summer - with all events completely free." It's this commitment to local culture that makes the event feel so genuine. It isn't just a gimmick; it's a real celebration of the busking talent that makes cities like Leeds so vibrant.

More than just a shopping centre

Trinity Leeds has really established itself as a key part of the city. Owned and operated by Landsec, it's more than just shops. It's a massive space with over 120 brands, and more than 40 restaurants, coffee shops, and bars all under that famous glass dome. The centre is also home to some amazing art, like the iconic packhorse sculpture, Equus Altus, which is a nod to the city's history.

For entertainment, there's the huge Everyman Cinema, a ridiculously comfy cinema with sofas, a private screening lounge, and even its own stylish bar. After celebrating its 10th anniversary last year, Trinity Leeds continues to be a place where people can meet, eat, and be entertained. The Landsec portfolio is full of places like this - spaces designed to bring people joy. And with the addition of the Trinity Kitchen Sessions, they've given people in Leeds another fantastic reason to visit.
