Halifax Chamber Choir

Baroque spring concert – 29th March

The first big event of the year is a spring concert on 29th March at St. Jude’s Church, Halifax. Expect a rich programme of Baroque music, featuring beautiful motets by J.S. Bach, Tomás Luis de Victoria, and Giovanni Gabrieli.

Bringing the performance to life will be Professor David Baker, a well-known local organist, accompanying the choir. If you love intricate harmonies and grand church acoustics, this is a night not to miss.

Open rehearsal – 11th February

Ever wondered what it’s like to sing in a choir? Halifax Chamber Choir is holding a free open rehearsal on Tuesday 11th February at 7.30pm in the gallery at Dean Clough. It’s the perfect chance to meet the singers, chat with the choir’s director, Aljoša "Josh" Škorja, and see if it’s something you’d like to be part of.

No pressure, no auditions—just a relaxed evening of music. If you're interested, email halifax.choir@btinternet.com to find out more.

Summer concert – 28th June

June brings a lighter, more playful programme. The summer concert on 28th June, again at St. Jude’s Church, will feature a mix of madrigals and English partsongs. Expect lively, poetic pieces that range from the Renaissance to the 20th century—perfect for a summer evening of music.

Duruflé’s requiem – 15th November

For the grand finale of 2025, the choir will perform Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem at Halifax Minster on 15th November. This piece is a masterpiece of French choral music, full of rich harmonies and emotional depth. If you love Fauré’s Requiem, you’ll adore Duruflé’s take on the form.
