|If you love dance, theatre, and a touch of 1930s London drama, then here’s some great news—Matthew Bourne’s award-winning production, The Midnight Bell, is back for a UK tour in 2025!
A Star-Studded Cast of New Adventures Icons
Kicking off on 15 May 2025 at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham, The Midnight Bell will travel across the UK for 17 weeks, including a stop at Bradford’s Alhambra Theatre from 30 September to 4 October.
The production boasts a cast packed with New Adventures’ most celebrated performers, including:
- Returning stars: Reece Causton, Glenn Graham, Daisy May Kemp, Andrew Monaghan, Liam Mower, Bryony Pennington, and Michela Meazza (who won a National Dance Award for her role in this very production).
- Newcomers to The Midnight Bell: Cordelia Braithwaite, Dominic North, Edwin Ray, Danny Reubens, Ashley Shaw, Alan Vincent, and rising star Hannah Kremer, recently seen as Juliet in Bourne’s Romeo and Juliet.

Matthew Bourne himself is thrilled, saying:
“This is, without doubt, the finest company of quintessential New Adventures actor/dancers ever assembled for a single production! I urge you not to miss this never-to-be-repeated opportunity to join us for an evening at The Midnight Bell and raise a glass to the very best that New Adventures has to offer.”
What is The Midnight Bell About?
Set in 1930s London, The Midnight Bell takes audiences into the foggy, dimly lit streets of Soho and Fitzrovia, where everyday people escape their mundane lives by gathering in a local pub. The story follows a group of lonely souls navigating love, heartbreak, and human connection in a world filled with longing and betrayal.
The production is inspired by the works of Patrick Hamilton, a brilliant English novelist known for classics like Twenty Thousand Streets Under The Sky and Hangover Square. Hamilton’s stories, deeply influenced by the working-class pub culture of London, bring an authentic and gritty realism to Bourne’s dance-theatre masterpiece.
An Award-Winning Team
Originally premiering in 2021, The Midnight Bell was met with critical acclaim and went on to receive five nominations at the 2022 National Dance Awards. Bourne himself won Best Modern Choreography, while Michela Meazza took home Outstanding Female Modern Performance.
The creative team behind the show is just as star-studded:
- Music: Terry Davies (Olivier and Tony Award-winning composer)
- Set & Costume Design: Lez Brotherston
- Lighting Design: Paule Constable
- Sound Design: Paul Groothuis
