|If you love live comedy and music, Tramlines Festival 2025 is shaping up to be an unmissable weekend. Taking over Hillsborough Park, Sheffield, from 25th–27th July, this year’s festival isn’t just about the big-name bands—there’s also a packed comedy tent featuring some of the UK’s best stand-up acts.
From TV stars like Russell Howard and Lucy Beaumont to cult comedy legends like John Shuttleworth, there’s a solid mix of sharp, observational humour, surreal silliness, and laugh-out-loud storytelling. Let’s take a closer look at the comedy line-up and what you can expect!

Friday: John Shuttleworth, Justin Moorhouse & More Kick Things Off
Friday’s comedy bill brings a mix of old favourites and fresh faces.
- John Shuttleworth – The awkward but lovable alter ego of Graham Fellows is back, bringing his unique blend of homespun wisdom and catchy keyboard tunes. A cult hero in Sheffield, he’s sure to get big laughs.
- Justin Moorhouse – If you’ve seen Live at the Apollo or The News Quiz, you’ll know Justin’s quick wit and cheeky Northern humour.
- Nina Gilligan – Winner of the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year, Nina’s razor-sharp jokes and no-nonsense delivery make her one to watch.
- Danny McLoughlin – A master of storytelling comedy, Danny’s laid-back style will set the perfect tone for the weekend.
Saturday: Lucy Beaumont & A Brilliant All-Female Line-up
Saturday’s comedy stage is packed with brilliant women, led by Lucy Beaumont, star of Meet the Richardsons and one of the funniest deadpan comedians around. Joining her:
- Eleanor Tiernan – A sharp-witted Irish comic and regular on The Alternative Comedy Experience.
- Hayley Ellis – Her self-deprecating humour and relatable take on modern life have made her a rising star.
- Sally-Anne Hayward – A festival favourite who’s toured with the likes of Sarah Millican and Russell Howard.
Sunday: Russell Howard Headlines
Sunday’s comedy tent is headlined by none other than Russell Howard. The star of Russell Howard’s Good News and The Russell Howard Hour is known for his feel-good, fast-paced stand-up. He’s joined by:
- Emmanuel Sonubi – A natural storyteller with an effortless charm, as seen on Live at the Apollo.
- Olivia Lee – Best known for her cheeky pranks on Balls of Steel, Olivia’s stand-up is just as sharp.
- Tom Ward – Expect surreal observations and a love of all things 80s nostalgia.
Tramlines: More Than Just Comedy
Of course, Tramlines Festival is best known for its incredible music line-up. Pulp, Kasabian, and The Reytons are all headlining, with acts like Franz Ferdinand, Jake Bugg, Natasha Bedingfield, and Rizzle Kicks joining the bill.
Beyond music and comedy, Tramlines also invests heavily in the Sheffield community. The festival generated over £3 million for the local economy in 2024 and has donated more than £260,000 to local projects through the Tramlines Trust.
