•Going to the football is about so much more than just the ninety minutes on the pitch. It’s about the buzz, the build-up, and sharing that excitement with family and friends. And now, the pre-match ritual for Bradford City supporters is getting a massive upgrade. The club has announced the launch of a brand-new city centre FanZone, creating the perfect spot to soak up the atmosphere before heading to the match. This new venture promises to transform the matchday experience for the whole community.

A new pre-match hub at Darley Street Market
Get ready for a new pre-match tradition. Bradford City AFC, affectionately known as the Bantams, are teaming up with Darley Street Market to create an official FanZone right in the market's courtyard. The big launch is set for April 3, just before the Bantams take on Northampton Town. From that day forward, the FanZone will be the place to be before every 3:00pm home game kick-off for the rest of this season and for many more to come. It's a brilliant move that brings the excitement right into the city centre.
The space will be open to both home and away supporters from 11:00am until 2:30pm, giving everyone plenty of time to get into the spirit of the game. Imagine meeting up with your mates, grabbing a drink, and enjoying the pre-match buzz together. This isn't just a space; it's the beginning of a new chapter for the matchday experience in the city. The partnership between the Bantams and Darley Street Market is a fantastic example of a local collaboration designed to benefit the supporters and the wider community. The new FanZone is all about creating a vibrant, central hub for everyone to enjoy before making their way to the University of Bradford Stadium.
Something for the whole family
One of the best things about this new FanZone is that it’s designed with everyone in mind, especially families. Keeping children entertained before a match can sometimes be a challenge, but not anymore. The club has packed the area with activities to keep the younger supporters happy and engaged. It's set to be a fantastic family-friendly space.
There will be plenty of interactive fun on offer. Here’s a little taster of what to expect:
Gaming Centre: Inside the food court, kids and adults alike can show off their skills at the gaming centre. Challenge your mates to a game of FC or see who's the fastest on Mario Kart.
Penalty Shootout: Fancy yourself a goal-scorer? Test your aim with a classic penalty shootout challenge.
Giant Garden Games: The fun continues in the courtyard with oversized classics like Giant Jenga and Connect 4. Who doesn't love a bit of friendly competition?
This focus on family entertainment is a huge part of what makes the new FanZone special. It provides a safe and fun environment for children to enjoy the build-up to the home game, allowing parents to relax and soak up the atmosphere. The available facilities are perfect for creating a memorable day out for the entire family.
More than just games and football
While the activities for children are a brilliant addition, there's plenty for the grown-ups too. The FanZone is designed to be a complete pre-match destination. An outside bar will be serving refreshments, including products from Molson Coors like Madri, so supporters can grab a drink and chat about the team's chances. It's all about creating that perfect pre-game atmosphere.
But it doesn't stop there. Every home matchday will feature live music from a variety of local acts, adding a festival feel to the courtyard. Musicians like Sarah Widdup and the Good Citizens are already confirmed to perform, ensuring there will be a great soundtrack to the pre-match excitement. And for those who reckon they know the Bantams inside and out, there's the 'Bantams Brainbox' quiz. This regular event will test supporters' knowledge of the city's beloved club, with prizes up for grabs for the brainiest fans. What a perfect way to get ready for a home game.
Building a stronger community connection
This whole project is about more than just providing pre-match entertainment; it's about strengthening the bond between the club, its supporters, and the local community. The location at Darley Street Market is a key part of this, bringing the club's presence right into a bustling part of the city. The excitement of the launch is shared by both the club and the market.
Bradford City fan engagement officer, Liam Mould, shared his enthusiasm for the project. He said: “We are really excited about bringing to life the Darley Street Market FanZone. This will enhance the family and matchday experience for our supporters, something which continues to be a major aim for all of us at the club.”
He added: “The location is in the heart of our community, and has fantastic facilities which are perfect for families and supporters. I am looking forward to continue working with the brilliant team at Darley Street Market and seeing the FanZone evolve to the benefit of our supporters over the coming seasons.”
This sentiment was echoed by Khansa Tufail, markets, promotions and projects officer at Darley Street Market. She said: “We are incredibly excited to partner with Bradford City AFC to transform the matchday experience for home and away supporters. Darley Street Market is already part of the home game ritual for many fans, especially families, which is brilliant to see as the next generation of Bantams enjoy the pre-match atmosphere in a family-friendly space.”
Khansa also noted the club's success, adding: “The club have had a terrific season, going from strength to strength, and we are looking forward to celebrating their achievement and the season ahead.” With this new FanZone, that celebration is set to be bigger and better than ever.
