Walk Description

This walk starts in the rural village of Pollington, where you have chance to read about the heritage of the village. Heading into the village you will pick up Bridge Lane which will take you over the Aire and Calder Navigation. The Aire and Calder Navigation once served busy industrial areas and is now a rural and peaceful route for walkers and boaters alike.

Pick up the towpath and head towards Pollington Lock. Pollington Lock was first built in 1825 and has since been extended to allow larger vessels to travel through, most recently in 1970. There is another Heritage board here for you to learn some local history.

Continue along the towpath until you reach Crow Croft Bridge where you will cross back over the Aire & Calder Navigation and return to Pollington. Here will you pass Orchard House, one of the oldest buildings in Pollington.
