Was treated to an overnight stay for our 40th wedding anniversary π. What a place, great rooms VERY CLEAN. Had a power cut due to heavy snow. Had a meal booked for 7.30pm. Was asked to go a little earlier, the staff were marvellous, managed to have a beautiful meal by candle π― light and stayed in the pub with the staff in front of a blazing fire π₯. Power came back at 11pm. Next morning went to breakfast, cereals and full English breakfast superb. Would definitely recommend and go again.
Fantastic place to stay and eat. We did B & B for 2 nights. Stayed in one of the garden rooms with our own little terrace. Rooms in the pub also. Room was spotless. Bed very comfy. And a large en suite shower etc with lots of complimentary shampoo, shower gels etc. . Large TV and plenty of tea and coffee in room. The full english breakfast had everything on it that you would expect from a full english . Plenty of extra toast, tea and coffee. Also cereals juices and fruits. The evening meals were delicious and well cooked. The portions of both starters and mains are large. Decided to have a starter on the first night, then struggled to finish our main course. This is certainly not a complaint. The staff are a credit to the pub. All very friendly and efficient. Couldn't do enough for you. We spoke to alot of the other guests who said that they always stay at the horseshoes. Some had be coming back for years. Can not fault the horseshoes in any way at all. Met the owner Charlie on the last morning who was lovely. I've been in the hospitality and a chef for years and this is the best place I've stayed in in Britain. The village of Lewisham is a short drive away from Pickering, Goathland (heartbeat) Great Northern Railway . We stayed here as a stop off point on the way up the Cumbria Looking forward to returning some time in the future. Book now, you won't be disappointed.
Had a fabulous Turkey lunch here on Sunday. Gorgeous food.. excellent service.. The Gentleman host here makes this venue shine. Lovely welcoming ambience. Would highly recommend.
What a find! A last minute booking to avoid a Monday morning drive down the m62 to get to the Flying Scotsman on time, and are we glad we made it! A pretty village, a quintessential village pub, roaring fire, beautiful rooms, welcoming staff, lovely food, what more can you ask- ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
We booked Sunday dinner for 1330. Omg amazing, great staff, fantastic food. I will definitely come back again.
