Absolutely Appalling and Irresponsible Management Our brief stay at this marina was more than enough to reveal the truly awful management and deeply negative atmosphere hiding behind its seemingly peaceful facade. While it looks pretty, the vibes from certain long-term boaters are intensely negative and create a very divided environment. However, the worst of it is the sheer irresponsibility of the marina owners. After an apparent disagreement with a mooring owner, they took the truly cruel and dangerous step of leaving an autistic young man stranded at the top of a lock. They abandoned him on a boat that was completely uninhabitable: no working engine, no electricity, no cooking facilities, and no toilet. This is not an isolated incident, either. They previously showed the same disregard for an American boater and her husband. This pattern of disrespect and poor treatment has created a mass exodus, with a total of six boats hot-tailing it out of the marina over the last few months due to being treated wrongly. They were quick to take our money and use the kindness of others, yet they are nowhere near as compassionate or responsible themselves. Thankfully, we were able to take this young man under our wings. Steer clear of this place. The owners are terrible and irresponsible. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
This Marina Ruined My Cruising Plans and Disregarded My Safety My partner and I only stayed here briefly, but that was long enough to see the toxic atmosphere. The marina looks peaceful, but there are some nasty vibes from long-term boaters that create a divided, unpleasant environment. The management here is the real danger. They showed an appalling lack of responsibility by abandoning an autistic young man at the top of a lock. They left him on a completely unlivable boat with no engine, no power, no cooking, and no toilet. My partner and I had to step in and take him on. Now, because of the extra responsibility and the terrible management at this place, I've been forced into continuous cruising along with my partner and our new friend. To make things worse, my own boat has broken down, and now I'm being towed—a stressful and exhausting situation that their actions helped precipitate. I am a vulnerable boater myself, and seeing how they treated this young man and others is horrifying. They've also been horrible to an American boater and her husband. This is a clear pattern, and it’s why six boats have fled this marina in the last few months alone. They took our money and exploited our kindness, but they couldn't care less about the safety or wellbeing of their boaters. These owners are irresponsible, and the marina is toxic. Avoid it if you value your peace and safety.
I have had the pleasure of attending some events at Fairies Hills moorings. I have always enjoyed how friendly everyone was an the effort that the committee have made to make it such a unique event. Keep on doing whatever you are doing guys
I would just like to say an big thank you to Wendy the owner of Fairies hill marina. Even though this is a difficult time for her she still found time to help us with our boat, by allowing us to safely moor there over night until we returned as we needed to leave due to Wood-knock lock breaking down.also a big thank you to Sue and John who moved it in o our from the lock in our absence. We will never forget your kindness. Once again thank you all James and Georgina
