Booked a twin ensuite room very last minute in preparation for a trip on the flying scotsman. Great service on phone when booking. Arrived after they finished serving food so can't comment on that, but when we mentioned we'd have to leave before breakfast they offered to make up a small picnic and gave us a choice of sandwich, this was waiting for us first thing in the morning. Would definitely stay again
Not bad for a 200 + years old building. Great price for the night's stay and breakfast . The staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was nicely done and presented. As for disabled people the access upstairs to the rooms could be an issue. Parking is around the rear of the building and there is room at the front off road .
I stayed in Room 1 at The Wentworth Arms and unfortunately the experience was not as comfortable as expected. The room faces the main road and has single-glazed windows which were old, decayed, and in need of urgent repair. Because of this, I could clearly hear traffic and passing vehicles throughout the night, and a noticeable draft made the room very cold despite having a radiator. The overall décor and condition of the room felt very dated. The bathroom also needs refurbishment — several floor tiles were cracked and the electric shower was difficult to use safely, requiring very careful adjustment to avoid sudden bursts of extremely hot water. I checked in around 9 pm and was disappointed to learn the kitchen had already closed at 8 pm, meaning I had to look elsewhere for food. This may be due to it being a Monday, but it would have been helpful to know in advance. On a positive note, the staff were warm, friendly, and welcoming, and the breakfast the next morning was decent. Overall, while the hospitality was good, the accommodation requires significant maintenance and modernisation to make future stays more comfortable.
We stayed here on the 30th October for 1 night after a trip to whitby. Its a lovely family run business in an ideal location for the A64. The staff are so welcoming. The breakfast is gluten free and excellent. We will definitely stay here again. Thankyou so much .
