We had a large birthday lunch here with 6 guests in total. 5 guests all had the same, fish and chips. The general consensous is that their food was great. Fish was fresh and so were the chips. I cant eat fish, due to dietry requirment, so i went with the chicken fillet bites. Sadly, for lack of a better description, they were absolutely rancid. Greasy and flavourless with a potent fish taste in the grease. Not to mention for £14.85, the portion size was inadequate for an "adult meal". I can only assume these were deep fried in the same oil as the fish, which is a whole problem in itself. So i was quite dissapointed. The staff are super friendly, no issues there at all. But in terms of service, for 6 of us we were brought 4 and half slices of bread to share and only 1 tea set , it says explicitly on the menu all paying adults get tea and bread with the meal... so having to chase this up twice felt silly. But i can not fault the friendliness, the staff are lovely. The desserts were great and well portioned, no compaints for desserts. Theyre also fairly well priced. For me personally, it was dissapointing. Im glad my family enjoyed their meals despite the service issues and "rationing". But its a huge dietry and allergy issue frying chicken and fish in the same oil, i feel if this wasnt the case i wouldve been able to taste the chicken and wouldve really enjoyed my meal. The chips and onion rings were fab, really nicely cooked. But all i could taste in the chicken was fish, something i cant eat.

For the final review of 2024 with The Chippy Tour, I visited Queens Drive Fish and Chips. The shop is housed in a stand-alone building with a small car park to the rear and plenty of street parking nearby. A disabled access ramp leads up to the entrance, and there is a separate restaurant area apart from the takeaway. The property was clean and well-maintained both inside and out, and the staff were friendly and polite. I ordered the large haddock, which came in a light, crispy batter with just the right thickness and a lovely flavour. The Irish curry sauce was excellent, with a perfect consistency, while the mushy peas—vibrant green—were sweet and tasty. The onion rings were decent overall; however, a few were a bit dry, though the thicker ones retained some moisture. The scraps, while slightly greasy, paired nicely when mixed into the curry sauce. The fish cake was dense, flavourful, and well-prepared. The only disappointment was the chips. Unfortunately, they were limp and lacked flavour, which was a shame considering the otherwise enjoyable experience. In my opinion, One of the best Fish & Chips restaurants in the North. Light batter, fresh fish, perfect chips and great pricing and service. Had my first pensioner special 😅 and they didn't scrimp. Came with Tea, bread & butter, melt in the mouth onion rings. Lovely Sweet options but couldn't manage one....Spam reviews below, must have got the wrong place mixed up!!
