Paxman Bakers

I won’t be returning. I ordered a simple three ingredient sandwich, but was given a full ham salad instead. That alone isn’t the issue, mistakes happen, and I’m sure they would have remade it if asked. My main gripe is what I witnessed during its preparation, which instantly put me off eating anything prepared here. The woman serving was slicing beef for another customer, and had juices and bits from the meat all over her hands. Instead of washing her hands (apparently an optional step), she wiped them on a visibly dirty microfibre cloth, one that is used to clean dirty surfaces. Seriously. 🤢 She then went on to make my sandwich (touching all of the ingredients). Truly disgusting. A refresher course in basic food and hand hygiene might be an idea. 🤦‍♂️

We have been coming here for years and it has slowly gone down hill went today at 1.10 (they don't shut till 3.30) and they had no salad for sandwiches and no white bread baps didn't even seem remotely interested in serving or bothered they couldn't provide a service just continued to clean down the surfaces with dirty cloths won't be going again

Superb sandwiches delicious pies 🥧 pork pies, cakes, bread and bread cakes. Top class bakery lovely staff 👏

Unbelievable quality....old school bakers. In my opinion / view best bakers in the UK and Europe infact the World. Staff are so polite and always give service with a smile. Their egg custard' Potted Meat and Granary Loves are to die for along with all of their produce.

I drove past and promised myself I'd come back, the excuse of feeding a group was perfect...no daft elaborate cupcakes here...everything I chose was fab ..currant slice, apple pie, brownies, little chocolate cakes and the best mince pies I've had in YEARS. Sausage rolls were fabulous too. It looks undramatic but is wonderful quality baking traditionally done.
