This bookshop is an amazing find. A wonderful collection of books, especially in their second-hand section. Helpful staff and lovely service. I’ll definitely be back.
Visiting my home town of Ossett I was delighted to visit the bookshop which I had seen on line. In my childhood this was Miss Turner's sweetshop! There are few such Christian bookshops nowadays, and it was great to visit the shop which I hope in these competitive times is thriving. I was able to purchase a book I had been meaning to buy. Thank you.
I have not had the opportunity of visiting the shop in person as I am down in Kent but have bought several books from them through Internet contact and the service has always been prompt and courteous. The prices for their second hand books are also extremely reasonable. If you are looking for good Protestant Reformed literature this shop is well worth your time checking out either in person or via their full online catalogue.
I have been ordering online from this wonderful bookshop for a little while now due to its tremendous ability to provide great second hand very affordable books (often rare) on Reformed theology, the Puritans and many more. So my wife and I whilst travelling from Scotland on holiday took a 90 minute or so drive from the Caravan to see if we could find this treasure trove. When we arrived we were greeted warmly, and offered a cup of tea which was so lovely. We were directed upstairs to the second hand books section, and I almost cried with joy, (my wife was almost crying about how much money I was about to spend!) However I restrained myself and took note of a bunch of stuff to purchase when I get home. This had everything you could dream of from concordances, dictionaries, commentaries, complete works, christian living, biographies etc. From Calvin, Spurgeon, Bunyan, Llyod Jones, Charnock, Puritans, Banner of Truth etc. I was actually too overwhelmed to choose anything. I picked up a couple of books on a topic I am studying, and headed back downstairs. The downstairs is incredible and they have put a lot of work into bringing in brand new commentary sets, and complete works as well as every type of book on reformed theology, baptist theology, from authors such as Lawson, Sproul, Ferguson, Beeke, McCarthur to name a few. So if you have not alreay bought fom here before, do so and support this great hidden treasure trove. If you want a great treat go and visit in person. In fact there should be a que everyday outside of this shop. (NOTE: You could spend £1 in the second hand section or if inclined, you could spend hundreds! - It is that good.)
The husband and wife team at this special bookshop cannot between them be any more helpful. Lorna sourced me a Bible for my wife’s Christmas box and as promised it was delivered by special courier to my home. You can’t get better service than that. Thank you all for your attention to detail, Rich Blessings and Happy Christmas.
