Squires Family Deli

I'm becoming a regular now after my first visit with my young son. Lovely staff, great banter and simply wonderful food. I love a good pie, but I was often left with bad stomach acid. Not so here! Proper pastry made with proper butter. Plus, their potted beef (when you can get it) is delicious! My son loves (of course) their wonderful array of confectionery, but also adores their sausage rolls and pies too. One of the few reasons he'll get dressed early on a Saturday morning if he knows he's coming here! I can't recommend this lovely establishment enough. Oh, and seeing their stove on, actively cooking delicious food right there in the shop, is simply wonderful. Lastly, if you can't get any steak pies, that my fault...because I've bought them all. Amazing.

I ordered the Afternoon Tea box for my daughter to take away to the Lakes - it was amazing : sausage rolls , pork pie , sandwiches, scones with clotted cream , cakes and crisps. A brilliant selection for 2 hungry campers !!!!. They absolutely loved it and want one every time now 🤣

So happy to find this little hidden gem! I was on my lunch break and as I don’t usually work in Ossett I decided to have a stroll through the centre to find a café or shop for something to eat and I was not disappointed. In the shop window they were boasting a variety of pastries that drew me in. Think Greggs but bigger and better! 3 smiling faces greeted me and I was served by a lovely young lady who gave such nice sounding recommendations that I had to buy a few. The cheese and ham pasty I think it’s called was beautiful and big enough for me to take home for my mum to have a bit. Their “Osset Roll” I believe she said was a twist on a sausage roll as it’s filled with Cornish pasty filling. Again loved it! 2 vanilla slices great portions! Let’s not forget the Lamb and mint pie 😍 wow! Even the design on top just looked like comfort. So thank you guys! I would highly recommend!

From Pontefract and came shopping into Ossett with my sister who lives in Horbury. Family steak pies were still cooking so went back when just out the oven. Husband used to be a master butcher and said the pie was the best he'd ever had. Meaty, tasty gravy and pastry that just melts in your mouth. He's looking forward to the other half tomorrow and his pork pie for lunch. Will definitely be visiting again. Excellent quality and friendly, welcoming staff .

Fantastic people and great food. In particular sorted us out with a wedding pie a week before the date :)
