Welcome to Yorkshire

|Whether you're a total beginner, a garden croquet regular, or a golf croquet player looking for a new challenge, Pickering Croquet Club is inviting players of all levels to take part in a relaxed and friendly introduction to association croquet this summer.
Led by experienced player Chris Ware, the club will run an eight-week season every Thursday evening from 6–8pm, starting 17 July through to 4 September. All equipment is provided, and players just need to wear soft-soled shoes.
The first three sessions are completely free, after which participants can either pay £2 per evening or join the club for the 2026 season — gaining free access for the remainder of this year.
The sessions are suitable for:
- Complete beginners
- Garden croquet players
- Golf croquet players interested in learning a deeper, more tactical game
- Competition players wanting to refresh their skills
Chris, who once played in national tournaments on a near-scratch handicap, says the sessions are all about fun and discovery:
“Whether you're in it for relaxed summer enjoyment or fancy learning the strategic side of the game, there’s something for everyone. My goal is simple — to help people discover just how much fun croquet can be.”
