A visit to Pocklington, a lovely Wolds town was completed by a visit to All Saints, the ancient church in the town centre. The moment you enter you can feel the ancient history of this stunning building. Impeccable stonework, stunning windows and beautiful ceiling work ... it's so peaceful and tranquil too. A truly beautiful building which is clearly cared for and loved.

I recently visited the church to attend an evening concert, my first visit inside, although I have passed it many times when visiting Pocklington. It is a beautiful and very elegant church, the perfect setting for the concert. Seating is on chairs rather than pews, there’s a disabled toilet on the ground floor and another down a few steps and there are items on sale. The reminder email for the concert mentioned that as a very old building it might be cold during the concert but I found it okay. Well worth a return visit during daylight!

A stunning ancient church in this beautiful village/ town. Well presented local church with so much history. It is well documented inside. In the front of main door stands the praying cross. The head top part is preserved inside the church. Look for the mouseman carved mice too. Well worth visiting from York.

All Saints Church Pocklington is an important grade l listed building. Known locally as the cathedral of the wolds, it dates from the 12th to the 15th century. Most of the stained glass dates from the 1800s. At the east end of the church, there is a plaque celebrating the life of Thomas Pelling, the flying man of Pocklington who in 1733 tried to travel from the church to the star inn in the market place he fell to his death and is buried in the church yard at the spot where he landed. It is an attractive church and worth visiting.

Grade 1 listed building in the bustling market town of Pocklington. Dating mainly from the 12th to the 15th century, it is also known as the Cathedral Of the Wolds. Its foundations are Saxon and there are remnants of the Norman church. Some interesting masonry figures, stained glass windows and an attractive ceiling. Worth a visit.
