We really liked this market it was are first time here and there was a good selection of food stalls and it had live music aswell plenty of free parking
A typical small market in a market town which opens each Tuesday. It’s right in the centre and the street becomes pedestrian only so it’s a great place to browse with all the traditional market stalls. Because of the location it’s surrounded by all manner of local shops and eating and drinking places so there really is something for everyone. I’m honestly not sure how many hours the market is open on Tuesdays as I have only ever visited mid-morning.
We went on a cold Tuesday in Feb. Dan's pies were excellent, we wish we had bought more. Amos and Welsh bakery ditto. The cheese stall was the same one that we'd already stocked up on at Beverley market the previous Saturday and then we nearly missed the piece de resistance because the fish van is facing the other way. Cod caught that morning, beautiful sea trout, smoked peppered mackerel, hot smoked salmon(both vacuum packed) and good craic. Missed fruit and veg but perhaps we missed it. Oh and useful hair clips.
Great stalls. Jams and pickles is my favourite by the foodie from Brid. Bread stall excellent. Flower seller has incredible hydrangeas...
Nice little market with a selection of food & clothes and other wares. Friendly people too! Tuesdays.
