Pontefract Park Playground

Superb park for all ages. Fully fenced. Area for small children plus more challenging climbing equipment for older ones and a zip wire! Lakeside walk nearby. Well maintained, Wakefield Council workers were there servicing and making repairs.

1 * because of the ice cream van / cabin The strong smell of gasoline from the transformer ,gas fume volume comes from the exhaust, Inhaling gasoline can be harmful for all the kids playing in the playground area also for the staff of the ice cream van. We stayed 1 hour in the playground area with 2 kids, the transformer engine was running all the time which eliminated a lot of gasoline smells into the air and makes few people dizzy, including myself. The ice cream van needs to be moved somewhere far from the playground area , not really safe for kids health also for anyone who inhaling the gasoline produce from that transformer engine. I hope someone from Wakefield council reads this review. Apart from that, everything is ok, the playground is well renovated, comparing how it was before.

A really disappointing playground, I can never understand why Wakefield Council find it so hard to at least make on decent playground. There’s 1-2 benches. Barely any play equipment, everything looks like it’s been there 15+ years. So disappointing.

Absolutely fantastic refurbishment of the playground done in 2023 really is a asset too the park and Pontefract hopefully looked after for many years to come .

A good area for the kids but some of the bigger ones (12-14) getting a bit silly on the zip lines, going side to side and risking catching the smaller ones with their feet or the big heavy lump of a seat when they throw it wildly back to the start. Also why have a great big slide fenced off?, get it made safe for the kids because loads of kids were climbing all over it thinking they'd be able to use it. Otherwise a great place to take the kids.
