We came here through a recommendation from a friend at work and were really pleased we gave it a go! I had the regular carvery and my hubby had the gobbler burger. We normally go to Toby if we want a carvery so I wasn’t expecting much however it was lovely. Even at 2pm it was all really hot. The beef and pork I had were extremely well cooked and tender and there was an excellent choice of veg which was cooked perfectly and not mushy or crunchy. There were 4 gravy’s to choose from including a veggie option and I tried the onion one which was very tasty! The plain one did lack a bit of flavour but was still ok. The burger looked home cooked and my hubby enjoyed it a lot. He opted for the chips which were standard thick cut which were ok. Other plates of food also looked really nice and there’s loads of choice. The staff were welcoming and the decor was very nice. It was also clean despite being very busy for a weekday. There’s areas for children to play and tables outside which I’m sure are good for the summer. The only reason for the 4 star was that we thought the burger might come with fries and the plain gravy could’ve done with a bit more flavour. But overall it was a great experience and we would definitely go back. Excellent portions and very good value for money. Recommend!

First visit for drinks then returned for dinner. The superb range of dishes on the menu made it hard to choose. My partner went for duck breast, while I had chicken in a mushroom and brandy sauce. Both meals were delicious. Drinks were well priced and the staff were first class. Friendly, helpful and efficient. The whole ambience of the place is chilled and relaxed with good music and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff but unfortunately that’s where the positives end. The chips were pure end-of-the-bag scraps. All the tiny broken bits you normally abandon without guilt, confidently served as a full portion. The “buttermilk” chicken burger didn’t look like buttermilk, didn’t taste like buttermilk, and only vaguely resembled chicken. Thin, dry, over-breaded, and dropped into a bun with the moisture content of cardboard. When asked how the meal was while clearing the plates, I said it was crap. I was told it would be passed on to the chef, no follow-up, no interest in what was actually wrong. Efficient, if nothing else. The remaining chips were repurposed into Britain’s smallest chip butty on a the dry bun, which somehow summed the experience up perfectly. Nice place, nice people but I wouldn’t recommend the chicken burger and wouldn’t go back for food.

The Cobbler is more of a restaurant that sells beer than a pub that sells food. There is a range beers lager and cider but unfortunately no hand-pulled cask conditioned real ales. The food was excellent, the belly pork was perfect. There is no pool table or dart board but there are TVs showing Sports. There is outside seating area a large covered area and children's playground. Dogs are not allowed in the pub.
