Went for food so can’t review the rooms. Don’t like writing negative reviews but this didn’t reach a good standard and feel like the only way to improve is from a review. We had the loaded nachos to start and these were nothing special. Simply just nachos with cheese and sauce, would expect something like guacamole and jalapeño for loaded nachos. For the main I had the Chicken Parma and this didn’t taste nice. From looking at previous reviews and picture this seemed to be overdone quite a bit (only looked at reviews after, so couldn’t tell staff otherwise). We also ordered the steak and ale pie. The pie was nice but tiny! The plate was bulked out with veg and mash. The gravy was nice as well. The actual building was lovely just filled with some cheap interior. Chairs were like what you would find in an office. Overall the place did feel quite cosy but there are things that could make it better. The food wasn’t the best and feels like dishes should be looked at and consider if they are restaurant quality.

My son and I spent the evening in the bar at The Black Bull. It was Buskers' night and the music was fantastic. We planned to only pop in for one drink but ended up staying for the whole evening. The atmosphere was cosy, warm and welcoming due to both the music and the expert services of Dale the barman. He was both charming and attentive, and he made us feel that our custom was valued and appreciated. This was not our first visit to The Black Bull. We have stayed in Reeth a few times, and each time we have visited the pub Dale has given us consistently fantastic service, efficient, friendly and polite. Thoroughly superb!

Beautiful place and a great traditional pub. Service was incredible from Dale. I must admit I got a bit carried away, and having inhaled half my pint and while gasping for my final breaths, my knight in shining armour surged in armed with a glass of water and saved my life. My wife’s pregnant and the boy will be called Dale. Great place. And best Dale in the Dales.

Stayed for one night during our Inn’s Way hike. We got the last room which was in the attic and had shared bathroom. Even though the ceiling was low room was quiet and full of character. Bathroom had hot water and good pressure. Dined in the pub downstairs, best cottage pie on the whole trip, and the landlord lite the fireplace which was very cozy. Breakfast in the morning was hardy, the only thing was the scrambled eggs which were some kind a packaged egg product, so order the fried eggs, otherwise a perfect stay.b

Hi, lovely traditional pub which offers a warm welcome and friendly service. Dog friendly, people friendly what more could you want on a dark winter night? Oh the beer 🍺 is good as well!
