⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Breathtaking views, average service, misleading menu We visited the Victoria Hotel in Robin Hood’s Bay and were blown away by the stunning views, both from the outdoor terrace and the indoor seating areas. It’s a truly picturesque spot and worth a stop for that alone. We only had snacks and a drink, and the service was decent, nothing outstanding but acceptable. However, a major disappointment was the misleading listing of Kalamata olives on the menu. What we received were standard green and black olives, pitted, doused in tinned olive oil, definitely not Kalamata. No one mentioned that they were substituting or out of stock, and that lack of transparency felt disrespectful. If something isn’t available, it should either be updated on the menu or clearly communicated by staff. Beautiful setting, but be mindful of the details if you’re expecting quality or authenticity in the food.
Disappointing Afternoon Tea for the Price I was really looking forward to afternoon tea at the Victoria Hotel, but unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectations. We had made a reservation, but when we arrived, the staff didn’t seem to be aware of it. Service throughout was inattentive — no one checked in with us during the meal, and we were never offered or brought any water. The tea itself was just basic grocery-store bagged tea, not loose leaf, which immediately set the tone. The scones were served with sweet whipped cream instead of proper clotted cream and cheap jam, which was quite a letdown. The sandwiches didn’t taste fresh, and the sweets all seemed to use the same overly sweet whipped cream, making the whole experience feel repetitive and uninspired. For the price, I expected more care and quality — fresher ingredients, proper tea, and some attention to the guests. It all just felt very “blah.” It’s a shame, because the setting and views are lovely, but the food and service simply didn’t match them.
The atmosphere was really charming, and the staff was very friendly.. but the food was a total let down. Everything we ordered was extremely oily & the burger was like beef jerky. We left feeling like we were going to get sick.
Lovely seaside pub and restaurant. We both had the fish and chips which were excellent. Both bar staff and table service were friendly and helpful. Great place for lunch in a lovely seaside village.
This pub/restaurant is a Gem! Decor is on point, lots of sitting, beach front, staff are super helpful and the food and beer are perfect after a nice walk on the beach.
