Robin Hoods Bay Bookshop

A lovely looking book shop with a good selection, it's a shame I couldn't browse and look. I arrived at 2;45, thinking that there was plenty of time to browse, as online it says it shuts at 4:30pm. I was only there for a few minutes when the shopkeeper said she was closing soon! So clearly the online times are wrong and it actually closes at 2:50pm, just so anyone planning on going is aware. It should be changed here on Google Maps. Especially when someone has travelled a long way to get there.

Good little shop with a wide selection from classic and academic to mainstream fiction. Just the sort of place you expect in a town like this and fits the atmosphere

I've given the shop two stars because I came away disappointed. The shop looked inviting and enticing from a book lovers point of view, hence the two stars. I spotted a few books in the window that appealed to me. One title that caught my eye was the history of Whitby Jet and there were also a few Yorkshire travel books by well known authors, that interested me too. The Bay itself was very busy, but folk were aware of the covid restrictions, and generally courteous. I popped my head in the bookshop door, fully masked, the shop was empty except for the lady at the till. I had my small dog with me, she is very bookshop savvy as I am a bookshop addict. (Well nearly) Sadly we didn't get chance to experience the delights inside, nor spend any cash as we found out that dogs are not invited. Although the assistant apologised, maybe there could be a rule allowing well behaved dogs in (eg. if there are less than ? customers inside.) Misbehaving dogs have to leave at shop assistants request. Just a thought. Never mind, Another day, another bookstore.

This little book shop is amazing please dont expect to be in 5 minutes give it an hour at least so much to read .

A nice, little secondhand bookshop to get lost in.
