This is the perfect park if you want to do a bit of exercise or get a few steps in as it has a lovely walking track and also a woodland pathway. It also has a tennis court that has recently been updated, an outdoor gym. It has the usual play areas for the kids, a bird house and a wonderful flower garden where you can sit and watch the world go by. My personal favourite is the lovely family friendly cafe which has a large outdoor seating area.
As per usual hats off to Leeds City Council for exceptional maintenance of their park and recreation areas. Springhead is one of my favourite parks in the area withit’s beautiful scenery and varied foliage. Dog friendly with both tarmac and stone/gravel walking paths and a fresh water stream that runs past the bird aviary and throughout the whole of the park…. great for cooling your dog down on hot days. For sports and exercise there is a skate park, tennis courts a basketball court and (approx.) a 1 km looped track which is pretty flat and ideal for that couch to 5K. They’ve also recently installed an outside gym area with free exercise machines to use. If a more leisurely afternoon is more your thing Springhead has 2 very well maintained crown green bowling greens. Two large play areas are also free to use one fenced off for toddlers, the other in the main park area with slides, swings and roundabouts etc… Lovely little coffee shop with a selection of cakes, treats and ice creams. Free parking and lots of spaces, although it can get busy during the summer. In November there is a very impressive fireworks display and bonfire, but get there early, t’s a busy old evening
Lovely park to visit with the dog, plenty of open space for him to burn off energy. Lovely little bird sanctuary in there too which was a nice surprise. As we walked around I was amazed at the variety of different trees and shrubs, which I imagine in the summer will look amazing as they fill the park awash with radiant colours. There is a little stream running through the park too which is very picturesque. Park also has a good size play area, also bowling greens and tennis courts. The cafe we visited was ok and served a variety of food. A decent size car park is available too.
It's a lovely park with a facilities for everyone. Playground for small kids and those a bit bigger, outdoor gym, tennis courts, boules grounds, skatepark, even a birds corner where you can watch and listen to all sorts of singing birds... you name it! Great place to hang around with your family or friends, get active and enjoy the weather. With a cafe just next to the tennis grounds (and a well maintained toilet inside) it's just 🎯 I very definitely recommend it. Oh, and you definitely should go for a walk in their gardens too 😉
Lovely park, dog had a great time, pond had iced over so nearly had a heart attack as he walked on it. Garden area, really nice walk. Didn't matter it was raining!
