Welcome to Yorkshire
Inspiration • November 27th, 2025
|Get ready, because some seriously big news just dropped for music fans. The one and only CMAT, the international pop star with the sharpest humour and a voice that could stop traffic, is heading to Yorkshire for two massive outdoor headline shows in the summer of 2026. If you’ve been following her journey from cult hero to global sensation, you’ll know these gigs are going to be properly special. She’s bringing her genre-blending anthems and incredible stage presence for two nights that promise to be unforgettable. The news, which was previously embargoed, is now out, and people are already talking.

Yorkshire gets two huge CMAT shows
So, where and when is all this happening? Mark your calendars. CMAT will be kicking things off by headlining TK Maxx Presents Live at The Piece Hall in Halifax on Friday, 17 July 2026. But she’s not stopping there. The very next night, Saturday, 18 July 2026, she’ll be taking her amazing live show to the coast to headline TK Maxx Presents Scarborough Open Air Theatre. That’s two huge opportunities to see one of the most exciting artists around right now, right in the heart of Yorkshire. These aren't just any gigs; these are major headline shows, proving just how far she's come. Tickets are set to go on sale, so it’s probably a good idea to get ready if you want to be there.
From support act to headliner at The Piece Hall
For fans who have been following CMAT for a while, the show at The Piece Hall feels like a real full-circle moment. She actually played at the historic Halifax venue back in 2022, when she was supporting the brilliant Swedish duo First Aid Kit. Now, just a few years later, she’s returning to the same stage, but this time as the main event. It just shows how her star has risen. And if that wasn't exciting enough, her performance at the Scarborough Open Air Theatre will be her first time playing on the Yorkshire coast. She’ll be taking over Europe’s largest open-air theatre, which is a massive deal and a clear sign that CMAT is one of the most essential live acts of her generation. These shows are a testament to her incredible talent and hard work.
Who is CMAT anyway?
It’s a bit mad to think that Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, or CMAT as the world knows her, only burst onto the scene about five years ago with her debut single ‘Another Day (KFC)’. Since then, she’s become one of the most talked-about voices in pop music. Her albums are a perfect mix of laugh-out-loud humour, raw honesty, and tunes you just can’t get out of your head. Her first album, If My Wife New I’d Be Dead, and the follow-up, Crazymad, For Me, both shot to the top of the Irish album charts. The latter even got an Ivor Novello nomination, which is a huge honour for songwriters. Her latest album, EURO-COUNTRY, was nominated for the super-prestigious Mercury Prize Album of the Year 2025. It features the viral hit ‘Take A Sexy Picture Of Me’, which sparked a global dance craze on TikTok and became her first UK Top 100 single. It’s the kind of song you hear once and are humming for days. Fans who follow her on Instagram and Facebook know she brings that same wit and charm to everything she does. After a show-stopping performance on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage, it's clear her headline shows are not to be missed.
What the organisers are saying
The people putting on these massive live events are just as excited as the fans. Nicky Chance-Thompson MBE DL, who is the CEO of The Piece Hall Charitable Trust, had some fantastic things to say about bringing CMAT to Halifax.
“We strive to bring both legends and current stars to our summer series and we are definitely delivering with CMAT. After wowing the crowds on this year’s festival circuit, she is without doubt the woman of the moment. Her unique energy and smart lyrics combined with her unifying presence are just what The Piece Hall is all about. I hope everyone is practising the moves to that now iconic dance, which will look so very cool in our beautiful courtyard!”
And it's the same story over in Scarborough. Julian Murray, from the promoters Cuffe and Taylor, shared just how long they’ve wanted to get CMAT to play at the Scarborough Open Air Theatre.
“CMAT has been on our wishlist of headline artists for the last few years so we are delighted to announce Ciara and her incredible band will headline Scarborough OAT in 2026. Her show-stopping performance on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage earlier this year – alongside sold out shows over many years – has cemented her place in the nation’s hearts. CMAT continues her rise from cult hero to global sensation and her headline show on the Yorkshire coast promises to be one of her most unmissable yet and a true highlight for 2026.”
A summer packed with massive artists
CMAT is joining an absolutely stacked line-up of artists for the 2026 summer series at both venues. It seems like TK Maxx Presents is pulling out all the stops. Whether you’re into indie, pop, rock, or classic legends, there’s something for everyone. Other major artists performing include the likes of the Scissor Sisters, James Taylor, and Paul Weller. Here’s a look at who else is playing. It's a real mix of legendary names and current chart-toppers, from Deacon Blue to Teddy Swims.
