Big shout out to will in selby store, helped me with a complex order issue and did so with great banter and a smile on his face, fantastic customer service🙂
Very busy today as its Bank Holiday Monday in Selby. Staff were still cheerful even having to work on a Bank Holiday...... 👍👌 Only negative is that you cannot use Argos vouchers to pre order online....?
I was exchanging an item that I'd purchased back in January - staff dealt with my query very efficiently and effectively. I was in and out of the shop in about two minutes flat - just asked to see proof of purchase and checked their stock levels to make sure they could replace my item there and then and handed over the replacement product. Store easy to locate within Sainsbury's - signs as you immediately enter the store and 2 hours free parking, minutes walk to the town centre
I reserved 3 items online on saturday as one order to collect in the Selby store. I recieved a text on sunday with again one reference number advising me that my order was ready to collect and I should do so before the store closed on monday. I checked on the online account which confirmed that all 3 of the items where ready for collection. I travelled to the Selby store this morning to collect the items. The lady who served me informed me that there was only one item there and that must be what I had ordered and that there must be a separate number for the rest of the items in a very abrupt and rude manner. I tried to explain to her that it was one order and that I had only recieved one number that seemed to cover the 3 items that I was expecting however she talked over me in a very patronising manner asking me how I wanted to pay. I'm not sure what she was expecting me to pay for as I had just been informed that the order wasnt complete. I tried to get my phone to show her the message I had recieved stating the order number and that all 3 products could be collected to clarify the information I had received however she snapped at me so do you actually have another number or not and sighed and rolled her eyes at a colleague. I attempted to ask if she could look up the stock levels to see if the other items I had originally ordered where in store and if so if I could just purchase them separately and forget about the original reservation as I do understand that sometimes admin and computer or even human errors can happen and I just wanted to complete my purchase to which I was again met with a sigh and a rolling of the eyes. At this point I informed the lady I wouldn't trouble her further that I would go elsewhere and left the shop as I was very upset and annoyed at the way I had been spoken too. I understand that this is the busiest time of year for staff however it was 9.10am and the store was empty. It is not a massive issue if there has been some sort of computer error and only part of my order has arrived at the store even if the information recieved suggests it has I can easily return another day. I regularly shop and reserve items online across a variety of stores and I understand how the process works. What is a problem is the complete lack of even basic human politeness the lady I dealt with showed let alone any kind of customer service skills in even listening to the issue let alone trying to resolve it. I had a similar issue a few months ago with another member of staff who was also rude and unhelpful. I will not be returning to this store again.
The staff member I spoke to was literally the most unhelpful, stubborn, obstinate and frustrating individual I have ever met. Just wanted to return a cable lead, but apparently a pre-requisite for returns is that you are able to repackage what you have bought EXACTLY how you bought it. After acquiescing to their instructions several times, they then refused to refund the cable because I had broken the box. (Which I obviously had to do to know it didn’t work for my purposes). I then spoke to another individual who was just as logically inconsistent as the previous brain dead employee I had spoken to, and after receiving a set of conflicting propositions regarding return policy at Argos I left wondering exactly how despicable (and obviously mentally incapable) people such as this ever managed to get work in customer service. Or work at all for that matter. The basic proposition underpinning our society that ‘all men are created equal’ is seriously difficult to believe when you encounter the pond life at Selby Argos.
