Excellent proper pub. 5 hand pulls. I had 2, Wensleydale and Timmy Ts bolt maker. Both spot on. Freehouse over the front door Wonderful log burner roaring away. Clean, tidy in great condition. Pub grub menus were put out just as was leaving at 5. Looked hearty and pleasing. Local banter filled the room. What a lovely place. May they could just tweak the lighting down a little. But honestly this is a benchmark pub.

Stopped off on route from York to Lake Windermere for some lunch on a Monday before Christmas. Great food, I had the Cajun chicken and asked for some mint yoghurt it was delicious. My partner had the steak sandwich gluten free and said it was great too. Friendly staff.

Really enjoyed our meal there yesterday, there was a good selection of food to choose from which all sounded delicious. We opted for two burgers off the specials menu in the end and we were not disappointed. We had the beef bbq smash burger and venison blue burger and the burgers themselves and accompaniments were delicious! They had a good selection of ales and bitters on. The service was really friendly and prompt and the atmosphere was great too, its dog friendly which is always a plus from me!

Wow what a lovely pub! We have discovered our favourite beer in here. As Guinness lovers, we were intrigued to try the Timothy Taylors Dark and we were not disappointed! It's gorgeous! We also had a great laugh and sing a long with the live singer and a few more pints the following day after the walk up to the caves. The food looked lush when being served around us. 100% recommend this pub! Friendly staff, great atmosphere and reasonable prices. Also a lovely large beer garden out back and complimentary dog treats/water bowls readily available.
