Never has a restaurant made me feel so warm and happy instantly. Matt was running the place on his own when we visited and what an amazing guy! His food knowledge that he shared was backed up by the most amazing cooking. We were on holiday, and have both said that we’d make the 1.5 hour drive just to come back to this restaurant. What an amazing setting, and a restaurant we genuinely will never forget. Thank you for taking time to sit and have a chat with us Matteo.
If we could give 6 stars, we would. Simply superb. Amazing atmosphere in a quite unique basement setting. Delicious, authentic Italian food all prepared by Matteo in a tiny kitchen. The kitchen maybe small but the food is superb. There's also a fun, friendly and interactive customer service that will leave you smiling. Matteo has been in business here for 10 years, unlike other restaurants that come and go, and you can see why. Highly recommended!
Absolutely fantastic food and me and my wife were welcomed as soon as we arrived. Super friendly, super attentive and the food was perfect. Matteo doesn’t let anything phase him, with him being a one man band doing absolutely everything the level of service isn’t impacted, infect it makes it extra special. Beautiful inside - very rustic interior and busy too. Speedy service and authentic food from the Italian chef, fantastic wine just like being in Italy. Could’ve done with a tiny bit more seasoning that’s all. Would return
Absolutely love this quirky yet authentic little gem that my husband and I stumbled upon a couple of years ago now. Since then, we have confidently recommended to family and friends! Matteo’s is our ‘go to’ restaurant for all occasions, including birthday’s, Christmas time and other family milestones. Mateo is so passionate about his food and I have never been disappointed with anything I have eaten here. The taste is authentically Italian, with the use of fresh herbs and carefully selected local good quality produce. I personally don’t have any issues with being enabled a ‘rest’ between courses, allowing for conversation to flow and the chance to take in the atmosphere. A true gem of a restaurant. If it’s fresh, good quality, tasty dishes, authentic to Italy that you’re after, cooked by someone who is passionate about ensuring your dining experience is positively memorable……. then definitely make a reservation here!
