Enjoyed a beautiful lunch here during a visit to the area. Walked in to book a table for an hours time and lucky we did and it's clearly a village favourite! Wine selection was unique and delicious. You can tell there is a real care and love coming out of the kitchen as they treat the local produce with such care- resulting in some delicious dishes. I would walk back for the squash fritters! Service was welcoming and suited the cosy atmosphere. A real gem that adds another level of dining to beautiful Settle ❤️
Some of the best food and drink in the area. Visiting settle, you must try the nettle. A small unassuming bar restaurant serving small plates of top quality restaurant standard food with a twist. We tried the gooseberry Bellini and an IPA beer followed by lamb shoulder and pork belly both absolutely gorgeous. Finished off with gooseberry tart and a chocolate torte with crispy beetroot shavings Yum Yum. Toilets are on the top floor, which is something to be aware off as stairs could be a bit tricky for some. Overall 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Visited specifically for The Nettle's vegan options. It was a Tuesday evening and quite busy and we sat downstairs. We ordered sourdough with Romesco, cauliflower with yeast, leeks with lentils, pea risotto, broccoli with almonds and courgette with olives. It was great wines were labelled if vegan or not, but what we found strange is there was no info about serving size although it's been pointed out I missed the info at the bottom of the list 🤣 The food came quick my husband wasn't keen or aware the leek dish was served cold, I thought the hot dishes needed to be hotter not lukewarm. The food was tasty, nicely presented but it didnt have the punch of flavour we were expecting. Having read the reviews maybe our expectations were too high. There was no specific vegan dessert (what a shame) so they adapt a meringue dish which came with cucumber sorbet, so we declined. Sorbet as the vegan option is poor in this day and age. The place itself is lovely and modern with an open kitchen and service was fine although trying to get the bill was difficult as staff were concentrating on washing/drying up and it took some time to attract their attention. Would we return, probably not.
My partner and I had a lovely breakfast here a couple of weekends ago, it really fuelled us up for our hike. There’s a good fry up, and then there’s a beautiful breakfast where every component has been prepared with care. The eggs were truly cooked to perfection and the slow roasted tomatoes were gorgeous. I eat meat, but my vegetarian partner was as impressed as I was. The lady that served us was really friendly and gave us great recommendations for our day out. Even the music was lovely. Overall, this place is fantastic. Highly recommended.
Can see why this is rated one of the best local restaurants in the country - everything we had was stunning and the setting tops it off. It's a lovely little space with the kitchen in full view and a prime position overlooking the square in Settle. It's a small plates menu where they advise 2-3 dishes each. I think 2 would've been fine for a light lunch, but I'd done a long run and ended up having 3 plus some fries! The truffle croquettes, chicken schnitzel and pork belly were all even better than they sounded, and the fries were good too. Not crazy over the top prices (although small plate places do tend to be more expensive by their nature), but especially good value considering the quality. Will have to be back for their brunch menu soon as that looks great too!
