Came in this morning for a gait analysis, and my sister and I received fantastic customer service along with really helpful advice for beginner runners from Chris. He was friendly, approachable, and explained everything clearly—no confusing jargon, just real experience and knowledge. The gait analysis was easy and straightforward, and seeing the before-and-after difference with the correct footwear recommendation was huge. I would highly recommend Up and Running. Chris, see you soon—thank you!
I'm new to running and wanted to set myself up with a good pair of trainers. Liz was extremely kind and professional, guiding me through a gait analysis and suggestions on the best trainers. There was no pressure to buy in shop and she provided me with all the information to afford me time to consider the purchase (which, I happily ordered online today!). I will definitely be returning in future!
I visited the store looking for running shoes suitable for long runs that would help absorb shock and reduce shin splints and knee pain. Liz was incredibly helpful from start to finish and took the time to do a full gait analysis, which made a huge difference. She explained what type of runner I am and showed me on the video playback that I land on my heel, which helped point me in the right direction when choosing shoes. I tried on several pairs that she recommended and felt well guided throughout! I ended up choosing a pair of Brooks that feel really comfortable and supportive, and I couldn’t be happier with both the shoes and the service. Liz was also really lovely to chat to, which made the whole experience even better 😊
I've never actually spent money in this shop because I have weird goblin toes and running shoes are a nightmare, but the (I think) owner has been incredibly helpful and always been able to offer great advice with whatever issue I'm running up against each time. I think I'll just need to come in here and buy a load of socks or something at some point to make up for all the very helpful free advice I've recieved. They do stock Altras and Topos with a pretty good range from each brand now though, so if you also have weird goblin toes you may well find something that works. There's just an unfortunate lack of wide toe box racing shoes in the general shoe market, so if you're after Specters, Cyclones or Vanish Carbons it's still fairly hard to find them in brick and mortar shoe shops because the wider market just isn't really there for them. Not Up and Running's fault at all, there's not much point in them stocking shoes that they're not going to sell many units of.
I have been served by Fraser on multiple occasions whilst browsing shoes and I have nothing but the best feedback to leave for up and running. The staff are very knowledgeable, friendly and don't pressure to buy their products. I look forward to continue to shop at the store many times in the future!
