Generally massive queues and not talking 10 people, can easily be 40-50 people waiting to get served. Hard to navigate as generally trolley in aisles filling shelves up. Fresh donuts etc are great though.
They changed the layout and got rid of all the random non-food stuffs in the central aisle noo!! Aside from that, love the free pastries I get from the Lidl plus app haha. They also changed most of the checkout services to be checkout machines, which makes the queues go by much quicker than before, so good on them. Cheap, good quality for the prices. There's a couple steps to enter the store, there's an escalator going up to enter, and a lift, but the lift often breaks
I am writing to formally complain about a very unpleasant and distressing experience I had at your store. I completed my purchase but did not take a printed receipt, as I was not aware that it was required to exit through the gate. When I realized this, I politely approached a female staff member and explained that I had paid for my items. Instead of assisting me professionally, she treated me as if I were a shoplifter. She checked my Lidl Plus app and then called a security guard to search me in front of other customers. This public situation was extremely embarrassing and unprofessional. Afterward, my receipt was found in the Lidl Plus app, confirming that I had paid. Despite this, no apology was offered. The entire incident was upsetting and felt humiliating. I also could not help but feel that I may have been treated this way because of my race i am asian, which made the experience even more distressing. It happened on thursday morning around 16/01/2026 around 10:43:12. Its been three days but i cannot forget that moment even in my life. I believe your customers deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. I hope you will look into this matter seriously and ensure that staff are trained to handle such situations in a more professional and respectful manner.
There is often (usually, even, since some of them are closed at offpeak times) not enough throughput at the checkouts, resulting in long queues, and the design of the store is such that you can't easily see this before you enter. I go anyway, though (the food is cheap and more varied than you'd usually get from an inner-city store) so I clearly do not dislike it that much.
One star for the abominable checkout experience. The queue is way too long any can move so so slowly. Especially even they don't have half the checkouts turned on. The staff shouting at you to tell you which machine to go to is a very unpleasant experience. It feels like they are herding cattle. The whole thing is completely undignified. The layout is pretty confusing as well. Prices are decent and nothing is as cheap in the city centre so I assume they know they can treat the customers like animals. Unavoidable experience of you live in the centre and aren't made of money but it's something to endure, nothing pleasant about it.
