The hotel building is stunning and fit for weddings and balls etc. Parking is good with plenty of space and cost covered by the hotel. The staff were lovely and very efficient. I was slightly disappointed by the room however, which felt a bit cramped and small. The bathroom also did not have a fan. We did have one of the basic rooms to be fair but it was slightly disappointing after the grandness of the rest of the building!
Our stay at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Sheffield was pleasant overall, though there were a few issues that could be improved. The room itself was nicely furnished, but felt a little small for the price we paid (£250 for two nights). The bed was slightly hard and not the most comfortable, though the bedding was soft and extra pillows were provided in varying levels of firmness, which was a nice touch. Unfortunately, the air conditioning in our room didn’t work, which made things a bit uncomfortable at times. We bought our own fan, which helped. We also had to open the window (which triggers the AC to turn off, but as it was not working, this didn't matter). The bathroom was on the smaller side and felt cramped for two people trying to get ready at the same time. The bathtub was a decent size, but the shower was quite compact and the water pressure was weak. Standard toiletries were provided (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel). Housekeeping arrived around 2pm — we had been out of the room from 9am to 1:30pm — and when we asked if they could return in 30 minutes, we were told no, which was a little disappointing. While the room was generally clean, there were some cobwebs, dust, and a not-quite-clean shower. We did not raise any of these issues with the staff at the hotel, as were there for two nights only. We stayed as part of a wedding party on the Saturday. The ceremony space was set up nicely, although there were noticeable cobwebs on the chandeliers. The food served during the wedding breakfast was good, but the buffet later on was less impressive — particularly the mustard sausages and pizza, which were undercooked for my liking. Overall, the Crowne Plaza Sheffield offers decent facilities and a comfortable enough stay, but the attention to detail and maintenance could be improved to better reflect the hotel’s standard and pricing.
A lovely historic hotel with beautiful features, and the festive décor made it feel extra special. We had a warm, friendly welcome from the reception team. There was complimentary water and fruit available in the reception area, which was a nice touch. Our room was small but cosy and very clean. The bed was very comfortable, and the heating and air-conditioning were easy to use. The room had everything we needed; an iron, ironing board, hair dryer, and soft fluffy towels. The only downside was the poor TV reception. It was a quiet stay, which we really appreciated. Parking was easy to access. The £50 taken from my card on arrival was a bit disappointing. I understand why they feel the need to do it, but it’s not convenient, especially as it still hasn't gone back onto my card the day after checking out and I have now been advised it can take up to 3-5 business days. Overall, a very enjoyable and comfortable stay despite the inconvenience with the deposit.
If you are coming by car and like me, worried about on site car parking and spaces, don't worry. Amples of parking spaces side of hotel that is not clearly mentioned in any reviews. Upon entering the hotel the nice scent greets you, by day two the reception scent is over powering, too strong and sickly. First night thought we had several loud bumps in the night or inconsiderate neighbours slamming the doors middle of the night, shaking our room for few seconds. Second night realised its actually the rooms air con, as described in reviews its noisey...its actually very loud at times then sounds like the motor crashing... Shower was hot but no power, I joked with the kids I could wee harder than the shower pressure. During one breakfast morning whilst in line for a table, the couple in front was asked if they would like a pot of tea or coffee for the table. It was then our turn and the same waiter said everything is self service and moved onto the next guests, I had to turn back to him and ask him for a pot of tea for two, it seemed too much trouble. He then asked the guests after us if they would like tea or coffee for their table. Being treated different annoyed me a little. Later on I took I went with my child to pick some pastry, it was just me & her in that area. She wanted toast instead, so I turned round to the bread box and was cut up passive aggressively by a different male waiter, he seemed in a rush, no excuse me or any manners. He put in 4 bread to toast, one came out and he asked if that was mine. I said no, its his and reminded him he put in 4 bread to toast and the first one was done. After the rude moment he collected his 4 toast and rushed off. On a positive, the breakfast is beautiful and I said to the female chef thank you for making such a beautiful breakfast. She replied you're welcome. When was the last time any guests said thank you to the chef? Overall good hotel to stay. Best thing: car park & breakfast Worse thing: dusty room, shower pressure Update* todays breakfast we were asked if we like tea or coffee for the table by the same man, maybe because this time he saw my wife was with me (?).
We had a fantastic stay on Christmas Day. (2025) Right from the start we were checked in by Yamin with a beautiful smile & a highly professional manner. The room allocated was large & clean with a view over the front entrance of the Hotel. We had booked in for bed breakfast & evening meal & all was delivered to the highest of standards. Ethan the general manager made sure our stay at the hotel was a warm and welcoming experience. Our evening meal was prepared to perfection by the Chef Harry (19 years old I believe) also breakfast was an excellent experience & it is clear to see that all the staff work well together at this Hotel.
