Fantastic little place of tranquility! Great mix of wildlife in the marsh and nearby river Tees - horses can roam free here but very content to munch grass and seem blissfully unaware of you. It can get very muddy so wear appropriate footwear. Footpaths could do with a little TLC.
A lovely place filled with nature. Bowesfield Marsh makes for a good walk with friends and family in the daytime and seems pretty dog friendly. It's not so well lit at night, of course, as it seems it's being kept as close to nature as possible so there are no lights around the trail bar a small one or two that I've seen by steps at the gravel car parking area on the way in. It is by workplaces so I'd imagine the parking area would get busy during working day hours.
A peaceful and beautiful place. We went at sunset in December and the sun glows through the tall reeds. Most paths lead you to the waters edge. The path running parallel to the river gets very muddy after rainfall.
Nice walk, well looked after by tees wildlife.
It was a hard ride on the bike in places, totally unprepared that is why it was so good. My bike "bit" me. Plenty of stinging nettles and biting horse flies, ideal conditions when only wearing shorts π . Just thought I'd try it for a change.
