Have been here quite a few times now and never had a problem, however today I was so disappointed. Arrived to an almost empty pub on a Sunday 12.45 should of spoke volumes but we stayed. Ordered some lunches but wanted a child's portion for my nana who is 87 with late stages of dementia and eats very little, was told they can do a smaller version as they dont do childrens. Ok! Looked at the menu they do intact do childrens sunday roasts, however they arnt available for adults to purchase??? Why? This is insane to me, I wanted to buy a child's dinner because it was a child's portion I wanted. Was told its ok, the "the smaller version" is the same size as a child's anyway. Find that hard to believe given its was £5 cheaper. As I expected the dinner was placed infront of us and my nana instantly refused to eat it as it was to big. Asked for a side plate so I could make her a smaller dinner (what i wanted in the first place) however the damage was done she barely ate 5 mouthfuls. Disappointing guys I expected better given previous visits. Please re - visit the "adults cant order a child's meal" rule please!!!

This is my local pub, it's been redecorated in recent years and it's lovely inside. Drinks are a bit on the expensive side for a local, similar to Yarm prices. Really great pub for watching sports though as there are loads of screens. The reason for the three stars is my experience of the food, and i will state for the record that I am vegetarian. First time eating there was a Sunday lunch when it first opened which was really decent so i had high hopes. About a year ago I had vegetarian enchiladas which were not reheated properly and were cold in the middle. I tried eating there again a month or so ago and had an onion bhaji burger which can only be described as soggy. My partner had different meals to me which he said were good, but my experiences weren't great. He also tried my last meal there and agreed how awful it was. In fairness to the Ivy Tree, I didn't complain and I probably should have, but I wouldn't eat there again. The staff behind the bar are really nice, and service is good. However, one time we were in there and one of the young lads behind the bar was getting berated by (I presume) management. Apparently he had left a door open which he shouldn't have. The young lad was spoken to terribly and in earshot of customers. It was really unpleasant to witness. Maybe he was having a bad day or something, but that is no way to speak to your staff. In summary it's a great pub for watching sports, but I wouldn't recommend the food.

Previously known as "The Eaglescliffe", my wife had been for a lunch meeting with work and insisted we go, so I obeyed. The beef portion if not folded would have taken the whole plate the potatoes and veggies are beautiful with a perfect Yorkshire pudding balanced on top with a stuffing ball inside and a little side serving of gravy. Perfect portion size and delicious
