Waterloo Kiln is a true hidden gem on the outskirts of Swinton and, for most of the year, secluded behind trees. You can get there by parking up on Blackamoor Road, just a couple of hundred metres up from the Woodman roundabout on the right side. Walk along the playing fields up to Pottery Pond and follow the fence line to your left, keeping left until you reach the kiln. There's an information board inside which you can read and, because you're right on top of the kiln, getting photographs is very easy to do. I've uploaded a couple of creative photos for you to enjoy
Beautiful piece of history, in pretty good condition structually however Rotherham Council have let it down due to lack of maintenance inside is no longer accessible by the public. The ponds surrounding are quite tranquil, nice little picnic spot. No public toilet nearby though
Pottery kiln built in1815, the same year as the battle of Waterloo for Rockingham Pottery. A little out of the way place full of history
Old ceramic poterry.Worth a visit on a regular day.Its part of Yorkshire heritage since its the last one standing
What was once a stunning place now ruined by a security fence. I assume that part of the woods is now the extended garden to the private house. Still History on your doorstep.
