It’s one week until Father’s Day (Sunday 18th June in the UK) and there’s still time to book a getaway in beautiful Yorkshire.

For the outdoorsy action heroes, there’s mountain biking in Dalby Forest – accommodation available at High Dalby House (includes cooked breakfast), Heron Cottage (ground floor with pizza oven) and Kingfisher Cottage (also ground floor with pizza oven). There’s also gorge walking at How Stean Gorge – lodges with hot tubs available.

For those who fancy a more sedate pace, why not cruise along the waterways, with a canal boat trip? Take in the landscape and relax – no licence required.

One of the most popular day-trips for Yorkshire locals and international visitors is Bolton Abbey. Find out more about the history, book a stay, or even plan a walk finishing at the Cavendish Pavilion (car park charges apply) for a Father’s Day lunch. If you’re visiting from abroad there are a host of private tours which take in the abbey, leaving from Harrogate and Leeds.

There are a host of great shows taking place on the Saturday night before Father’s Day – check out this selection:

If you enjoy going to live shows with the family, why not enter for the chance to win tickets to Duggee Live? Hey Duggee The Live Theatre Show was named Best Family Show at the 2023 Olivier Awards. ‘A joyous piece of family entertainment’ – Time Out Magazine.

Tickets make for great last minute gifts – especially where they involve something as impressive as the plane formations heading to central Yorkshire this summer. If you haven’t already watched the trailer for the Flying Legends airshow, which takes place at Church Fenton (in between Leeds and York) on 15th July it is well worth a watch:

Finally, the most recent giveaway winners were as follows:

  • “The Tales and Tails of a Yorkshire Vet” – won by S.T.
