What a find! Fantastic pub with a great atmosphere, friendly helpful staff and excellent food ... well done to all the team here. Good range to choose from on the menus ... and top marks for the wide availability of most items being gluten free too. Great flavours and plenty of it. Dog friendly for well behaved dogs and a roaring log fire. Wheelchair accessible and they accommodated smaller portions for an elderly person in our party. Staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful despite it being busy.

Drinks by a lovely log fire on arrival. Help with luggage to room which was great. Meals over two nights first class with super friendly service - in fact staff all round were excellent. My only gripe was that the heating in both the bedroom and particularly the bathroom was inadequate. The weather unfortunately when we were there was wet and cold so we returned to our room quite early and the heating was not on. Sat in bed to keep warm !

We have just returned home from a caravan trip, the best part of which we're our two eveing meals at the Plough. The food was superb, 4 different mains and starters each as delicious as the other. Huge thanks to Niall and the team for making us so welcome, you've all done a great job, thank you.

We came here for a celebration for my partner’s 41st Birthday. I booked ahead and it took a while for confirmation to come through. We were staying at Bowland Fell Caravan Site, very close to The Plough, so it made sense to eat there for this occasion. The service was terrible, staff not visible, nonchalant and disinterested, everything took a very long time to arrive, and no communication in between. No real service etiquette or class. I booked here due to my family history of living in the area and booking weddings and celebrations there, it was trusted. We used to stop here on our way to Tosside as children, as a family, and enjoy the experience. The only difference this time, and I’m not making any accusations, was that I returned with a mixed race family with three young children; may be the area? I’ll just say, not very friendly for multicultural diverse families. The family opposite us were hostile, judgmental and ignorant, which matched the lack of service and attentiveness by the service staff. Food was OK, the Sunday Roast Chicken was really nice and well portioned - my family weren’t satisfied as much as myself… no real difference to the food we had enjoyed at Bowland Fell, which is basic ‘pub grub’, done well. Our children have a very developed palette, with many tastes - they know good from bad, fresh from tinned, and fresh from freezer, but we’re not impressed by the food here at all, except the chips, apparently, we’re good, otherwise, they felt uncomfortable throughout our meal. For my own sentimental sake, to this establishment, and the area - I would’ve liked a better experience with my own family, as I did previously with my parents and grandparents. There used to be a homely feel to this place, like everyone was a ‘regular’. It’s no longer the case.

I’ve just read a bad review of The Plough, and feel I must tell you about our stay. We visited in the summer of 2025 via a deal with Travelzoo, although we booked it independently because my wife has disability problems and needs a ground floor room. We stayed on Saturday and Sunday. This Pub was excellent, our room was on the ground floor, very clean, decorated beautifully and had everything we required. Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. Food was more than excellent. My wife has had Bowel Cancer which has left her with a very poor appetite, but she loved the food on both days.
